Opinions on whats to com

So do you all think the new imroved Ai will be a challenge? Anyone excited to play a game aginst it on it's hardest setting like i am? What do you think the main changes will be? Think it will be drasticly different?

I think it will be like Garry Kasparov against Deep Blue.

If they always build scouts and micro thier scouts, than they will always be at an advantage if they use the information they've gained to influence thier fleet compisition and overal tactics. Mabye different degrees of AI will use less scouting or more depending on the difficulty. Perhaps even, an easy AI could use too much scouting and squelch resources on much too many scouts.

Well I must say i love the new improved sins, Ai is definatly better. i played my first game on medium and they had more planets then me in the first 30min. i still won but it was only meium and not only did the AI colonize and build well but it used the markets and pirates too. im intrested to try the hard AI in an FFA or team game. i hope its good as 1 on 1 pvp games with 2 AI could be sweet if the AI was good. Ally opportunitys and bribes, forign trading....i hope tis game breaks throuh as an MP game WITH bots.

I just lost my first retail version game of Sins... to the AI. In my defense, the AI was on the hardest settings, was on a random map, I didn't know anything about the new features, didn't know anything about the Advent (who I was playing as), and the chumps ganged up on me :P


So yea, the new AI is pretty good. I'm still banging my head on the wall over some of the dumbass things that the unit AI is still doing though. ESPECIALLY where it comes to autocasting abilities.

The AI does play excpetionaly well, not only did they outbribe me twice just as the pirate timer ran out they were also able to synchronize attacks on my empire while I was dealing with the pirates.

Not to mention the fact that they were also able to commit several hit and runs with minor casualties.

I still have some complaints about the targeting AI for fleets though.

Ability autocast is probably the hardest thing to get right, since it's so user-dependent as to what they want it to do. But yeah, the new AI is loads better!

the AI is pretty damned good, playing in a massive random galaxy they kept coming after me! (apparently for a little while I was the strongest) and they wouldnt even go against my strongest planets, and on the occasion that they found themselves outmatched they immediately withdrew rather than engaging lengthily (although maybe a little too much retreating is going on...)

in any case my only waztafook? question is: damn the balance is COMPLETELY different! its like an entirely new game, and I'm not complaining.

I like the new AI, it makes sense, other then the fact there is no way to please them without being there personal war slave. Well, they are pretty smart in tactics and stragery, if a scout finds a lightly defended world they will attack it and retreat if a to big of a threat comes. Bah, need to research phase inhibitors. :p

indeed, and all the debris after a big battle is EPIC, just pieces of ships flying all over the place
