Pre-order\ Download question

I used the search function but couldnt find anything, so i was just wondering if there was going to be anysort of pre-load prior to "release" for pre-order customers? or whether you pre-order or not your in the same boat release day.

and as an aside, how big is the retail download expected to be?

There's not going to be any pre-load, as far as I know. The download should be around 1gb I think, I've heard that number tossed around and it would fit in with the smaller beta install (more stuff in release, obviously :P).

Yup, no pre-loading and the final download should come in around 1GB or so.

Thanks for the quick response, to both of you.

I will say that 1Gb seems surprisingly small, but I'm not complaining. It's probably a bad thing that I expect games to be 5Gb+ for no adequately explained reason.

Maybe they can modify the download agent to send it to you 5x...

I have recently pre-ordered the game and now I realize there won't be anything to download before the official release in the US stores. In fact, it's a pity that Stardock doesn't make full use of the advantages with digital downloading (because there are some disadvantages also, like no booklet, queueing for a massive download etc). I bought the game from Europe where the game will come out even later so it's very useful with digital download in such a case. But why should the already convinced and paying fans have to wait for the physical product to be placed in the stores before getting to download an existing game??! The strong point with digital is that you can get the product directly to the customers without going through the stores - so why not do it (at least a few days before store release)? After having us install the SD Central and everything, please give out some candy also! :)

Looking forward to the game anyway ...

Because we'd like being able to actually sell our stuff in stores in the future. Giving retailers a street date then breaking it ourselves would make them rather unhappy.

Well, it's about 1GB compressed. Uncompressed it's like 1.6GB or so.
