are there non player factions? because when I looked at one of the recent screenshots (the one on the home page, with the preponderance of wormholes) there appear to be four players starting out, but two factions that already exist (that have more than one color, which is odd)... one is well founded, but the other only has one planet

Q: How hard is it to create a map with each player all ready having huge fleets to fight with?
A: Some of the maps already start like that.

I dunno, maybe some maps have a sort of "start players from scratch but let the cpu start with a bunch of middle ground" type setting. But the fact that some of those guys in the middle have multicolored logos makes me wonder if it could be something more. Scenario map perhaps? Who knows.

no, its much different
first off players do not have multicolor insignias, also you dont start with many planets/at the center of the galaxy, which, apparently did happen here.

Yay just look at the middle pic on the start site of www.sinsofasolarempire.com and youll know what schod means.
There are four Players and three other factions:
Pirates
One with a blue red color signe
And the last one with yellow purple

They are neutral colonies!!

If you look at that one screenshot not to long ago that showed the galaxy creation, on there theres a spot where it says neutral colonies and how many you want on a map.

Of course this is what I think they are, the question is, is it and if they are does that mean the whole new diplomacy interface allows you to trade n such with them??
