Preoder vs. Order

Hey guys!

I've 'known' about this game for a few months, since I got GC2, but that 'knowing' was two facts. A, there was a game that Stardock was partnering up to make with some other company, and the game had a weird name, and B, it was RTS.

I just spent an hour finding out more! I'm hooked!

Unfortunately, I just got GC2 Gold Edition, and then soon after TA, by convincing my parents. Also, after my grandparents nearby got a new quad-core computer which is massively better than my only Windows at home, which barely ran GC2, I have been playing GC2,AoE3, and Civ4 up there. I don't think I'll play Sins until it comes out. Unless...


It is available for preorder, yet at a pretty hefty price. After researching about Sins, I can absolutely trust that the game is worth one hundred bucks, not 50. All I was wondering is if the preorderers get any special benefits, or if the price is reduced. If so, I'll preorder. What is it?

Pre-ordering through SD nets you the collectors edition, which has a number of "goodies" inside.

the distributors'd get pissy if stardock started to compete directly with them. The dl version is bad enough from the developer's viewpoint.

The bonus stuff in the collector's edition is totally worth it - as a gamer I would have paid that much more just for the massive double sided research tree poster alone. (There are also some posters, a hotkey card and a full cd of Sins music arranged to reflect the Sins backstory).

Preorder MORE expensive! By $20!?!?

Hmm.

That's new. Oh well, pressure the parents time...

Edit: Ok, clicked Preorder with S/H, and got to STardock Cart screen. How much is shipping to Canada? Usually 5 bucks, but is Ironclad distributing? Because I know that they are right in Vancouver, with me!

In Australia, even with the increaced P&H, it's still around the same price as buying it from the store (and about a month and a half earlier).

Gang, ordering direct is $10 more because it's the Collector's Edition, not $20.

You forgot the extra shipping cost dear Stardock. Wasnt that 29$ to Germany and Canada(other thread)

So basically you get the normal version for 49,99US Digital download (not collectors edition) if you want the box (Collectors Edition) be aware that you pay an somewhat outrageous shipping fee. If you go to the store you pay arround 38-39 US (not collectors edition).

It has never been clear to me why we dont have a download only version available for 39 US via Stardock Central or has it been made clear. No I dont want tokens :)

Shipping and handling is generally not considered part of the purchase price; it's a necessary add-on to get a retail box that we can't avoid. If you're paying in Euros the price after shipping is still only ~55 Euros + tax. 

The Canada shipping rate is correct. It may be right across the border, but it still counts as International to the USPS.

The Collector's Edition will be available until we've sold out of them.

Yes, anyone who has ordered directly from SD will get the collectors edition. Additionally, you won't be charged any increase in shipping or price.
