Scaleable UI

This is one thing thats been constantly missed in RTS's. Looking at the screenshot the user interface is lovely but on a smaller monitor appears to take up a large portion to the screen. will are there any features to change the scale of the UI to make it smaller?

I so want this to happen but in the opposite direction since I have two 30" monitors as well as two 20" ones. I got so much real estate to burn it is not funny.

I seem to recall a mention that you will be able to modify the UI with the soon-to-be-released Forge Tools. So while it's probably not going to be an in-game option, you'll probably be able to tailor it just how you like it ;)

The UI was designed to take up as little screen space as possible. The UI is also hide-able.
Also, most people play at higher resolutions. Even those with less than spectacular computers. I don't see this being an issue at all.

Personally I don't like scaled UIs, since they tend to get blurry. To do it right you'd need new interface textures for every different resolution....

You guys said you were going to provide ultra high resoultion graphics after the game was released if I remember correctly -yes?

It's something that's being discussed. It may not happen.

What about ship icons on the map? I saw on the introduction video that ships become icons at a certain distance. Is this the distance at which the ships become icons ajustable? Graphics and performance aside, I would like them to remain ships for as long as possible.

Customisation for teh win :D

Yes, you can adjust the distance at which they become icons or you can turn it off altogether.

Umm... I could swear we got an affirmative on the hires graphics for those of us with high end rigs. More importantly I have been specifically mentioning that detail to others and posting about it on other forums. I hope it is more likely then not, otherwise credibility will be tarnished and that is not a good thing.

seconded spartan here in both respects, I swear one of the throwing points of the game was its ability to also run higher end machines through their paces...

at any length, the difference between amazing and mehmazing hardly deters me.

Even so, that wouldn't necessarily mean the UI, far more likely just the ships, structures, planets, and effects.
