Dual/Quad Core CPU Support?

Not that this is a deal breaker or anything but I was just curious if the game supports optimizations for dual core or quad core CPUs.

The game does make some use of a second core, but reports vary wildly on how much so.

SDC sifts off functional capacity from your second core while you're playing sins so that Ironclad can run their world domination simulations :P

Yeah, But I'm still waiting for the third and fourth - in fact all the way up to the eighth to be used...

what, you have 8 .1 Mhz cores?

Dual QX cores.

1Spartan's rig is the rig god wishes he had. Core 2 extremes, dual 8800 ultras, etc etc.

Yeah sadly I have 4 of everything in one box except the CPUs and GPUs (x2 each) - the horror of it all.

Maybe for my next rig next year or even this fall if my wife does not bitch to much or I decide to divorce her. She gets in the way of my lifestyle anyway. So it wont be a big loss methinks.

Good thing i've only 2 cores, one of that annoying 8core nonsense to worry about.
Yeah, really happy......:'(

I asume the final version will be a lot better with multiple cores then beta4.

the game uses the 2nd core to make waffles inside my PC , its like heaven on earth...

actually koscky, the game is turning your PC into a PoC, you really need to work on your olfactory lobes

maybe you should marry Ron, I'm sure he would appreciate your computer.

If he was a Gothic style gamer girl into extreme S&M and other fetishes as well as other girls I would consider that but he is not so it is not an option sadly.

What exactly would it need to be SMP-aware for? Even most Source games only use the second core for sound processing, and Sins is hardly that resource intensive.

if you wanna try something like this "20.368 ships" then hell yeah :HOT: i got like 1-2 fps :CONGRAT:

Well, I guess it would help for AI computations for all those ships, but I would imagine the GPU would be much more important in that case ;)

When i did the test the game didnt have any dual core support at that time, so maybe i should try again now that it does.. hmm..

Well i did some tests and when paused the game it gave a huge boost to the fps, so that leads me to believe it was a CPU thing

Car, let me point out that making the game support multiple cores can be something as simple as offloading sound or other "extras" to the second core, or it could be something even more fine grained that allows it to offload other stuff to the second core. If the devs were to take the time to program it right (they wouldn't... the tools don't really exist to make that very easy at this point) they could even do a "fine grain" threading and make its split evenly across two cores. Not an easy job, as you have to program specifically for that, and that type of programming is more difficult than the normal kind, but you can do that.
