Geeks Are People Too

Over the past several days I've received numerous emails from some of the folks at Linux Questions inquiring about my health and expressing concern that I hadn't been posting there for a while.

The truth is that I have been busy with other things and simply hadn't spent much time there. It is rather touching that my fellow Linux geeks were concerned about my health and well being. After the 10th or 12th email I posted there letting everyone know that I am indeed still darkening this world's doorstep but have simply been busy.

It never ceases to amaze me how, through cyberspace, we tend to develop true and honest relationships with people we have never actually met in person. The same can easily be said about JU and many other online communities.

Yup we all put our shoes on and tie them. We all put our pants on one leg at a time and we all do have to answer "the call of nature" sometime or another.

through cyberspace, we tend to develop true and honest relationships with people we have never actually met in person.

Well, except for those dating websites and Myspace.   Other than that I think people can form a fairly close knit community.

It is nice to know that someone is thinking about you when you disappear for a while.  It's kind of like that bar on Cheers where everyone knows your name.

I've made some great friends over the net and am equally surprized at how long some of those friendships have endured.  While some acquaintances have fallen off a bit, others have picked up to take their place and kept me busy and offered great opportunities to share in fun events along the way.

Definitely nice to have found a lot of great people here though.

SHould have posted a comment about Windows is great and Linux sucks.  That would scare them more than silence!
