Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

I use Opera and like it quite a bit. It may be a little faster, but it sure is smaller and takes up less disk space. It just feels friendlier too. There are a few sites that require IE so I still have it on the computer (so the smaller footprint of Opera is irrelevant).

I was actually quiet disappointed when i got firefox. my friends boast about how brillient it is but really i can not see any difference between firefox and IE. They say firefox is faster but the difference is so small you don't notice it. Anyone else feel this is true for them aswell? or is it just me and my imagination?

the main benefits to Firefox over IE are 1) security {many common viruses and the such are written as such to take advantage of the flaws in IE; and since almost everyone that has a computer has IE, it is profitable for them too, Firefox still has a relatively small share of browser users- so just like Macs users are less likely to get compuiter viruses, Firefox users are also generally less likely)

2) its addons.  you can quickly and easily customize your web-browsing experience with a wide range of usually free addons that Mozilla Firefox offers.  My favorite is the Ad-blocker Plus.

I find IE, at least any incarnations so far, to not be very user friendly.

but, if it works for you, then by all means, enjoy yerself :)

I was told and force to use this default font family and font size because I am different so from now on I will use this font to be normal.

And also I was force to never show my empire banner to attract members.

It will take time go through this thread and change my font and delete my colorful banners but I promise I will.

   Thank you for your time

What are you talking about GmOOnii?  There's no rules for what sort of font or color you have to use.  Someone is selling you a load of horse-shi1t.  You can use whatever strikes your fancy.  You dont have to delete or change anything.

It's much easier to read now, but the removal of the banner wasn't exactly necessary.

After all, I know a certain Kzinti who has a banner in every post...

actually CL did put it forth as a "rule" for the twilight pub, but i believe he was speaking metaphorically. obviously it doesn't apply to other threads unless the OP says so.

as for changing old posts, i think that's excessive in any regard.

Actually I didn't put it forth as a rule. I politely requested that gm00nii adhere to more conventional formatting and I went some lengths to explain why and to do so in a friendly, non-judgmental way. This was actually done for gm00nii's benefit. There is a place for colors and non-standard fonts where they are used to highlight or underscore meaning...but when used randomly they are more akin to strobelights and random noise. It actually makes communication harder. Within my original post you'll see that my polite request did not have to do with the use of color per se but it's random use.

Since this is a community I was endeavoring to point out to gm00nii that not all people in the community enjoyed this and some were actually put off by it. See Mottikhan's comment and the comments of others over the last two months. Gm00nii has alienated many since showing up on the boards and I was simply trying to give some friendly advice on how to be more accepted. I'm sure we've all had the situation wherein we had to take a friend or acquaintance aside and tell them that they smell bad......no one wants to have to do that, but if we don't, that person may never realize why they are being ostracized and may unwittingly continue behavior that is offensive to others.

I endeavored to explain to Gm00nii why it's behavior was bothering others. I was trying to give gm00nii a chance to understand both the reactions of others and the reason for them so it could correct unwitting behavior that was causing ostracization and unkind attitudes. I was told that it "was not even going to try to change".....in a deliberately non-standard font. Pretty much a slap in the face.

Thanks Dys for trying to explain. The thread is available for all to read on the Twilight Pub. With the reveal edits feature you can even see what Gm00nii actually wrote and how. The truth of the matter is that I was trying to help Gm00nii to be more accepted in the community. Gm00nii was never forced to do anything, it was requested to behave in a manner that would be more acceptable to the rest of the community. There were never any representations to it on how it had to behave in KP's house. That is up to KP. For the record there are no "rules" at the Twilight Pub except those iterated in the initial post: to respect your empire origins and secrets, whether Kzinti or ToE, and to respect your fellow patrons. Gm00nii has been very disrespectful in the Pub, and has misrepresented what happened on other threads. That is not the behavior we wish in our Pub patrons.

Who would that be? ;)

@CL:  Thanks for the explanation. :)

@SerArris:  Congrats on the speedy game. :congrat:   Too bad about no econ boom, but I'm sure you garnered some good info from the game nonetheless!

Kzinti empire2.JPG Sentient species taste better...

Ser Arris, how the heck do you play a giga game in two days? That's impressive....it takes me that long to click 5500 planetary tiles full of structures let alone all the other things one has to do. I'm amazed. That is a very nice score for a two day effort, good job!

Also, I heard from SS that there may be a link between etreme planet frequency and random event frequency....i.e. if you set extreme planets to "rare" your random events may also happen on a "rare" basis even though you set it to frequent. If this is the case, we may all be better off setting extreme planets to frequent....it'll make getting that all important econ event that much easier.

@ KP: I did, indeed!

@CL: I get almost all of my planets in trade, and I use the planetary governor to carefully install a minimum number of structures. The governor is useable (barely) once one learns what not to build with it.

*subtile hint at devs*: Now fix it already! Geeeez. There's no excuse.......

This is of course assuming that the "event" slider is for all events, and not just megas, which I never got an answer on and never found the time to test.

Oddly enough, I almost always get 3 econ booms in a game. Even with the extreme planets set to rare. All I got this game were exploding planets and an Interstellar Recession. And an Influence Boom years after I had no use for it. I'll try the Frequent setting next game to see whether I see more events. I am almost tempted to wonder whether Evil Alignment gets fewer or worse events. I usually play Neutral.

Almost forgot: There is a considerably more specific writeup in the War Council for Kzinti members.  For public consumption, let me just say that influence also played a role in the speediness of the game.

The scoremongers have played Evil as long as I can remember and I've never heard any major complaints.  It's probably just the luck of the draw.

Cue everyone retroactively complaining how difficult it is to get an econ boom as evil.  :P

I'm currently in year 6 of an evil game, and haven't had even one mega event (and yes, they are on). No econ, one influence event. No new minors, no dread lords, no newly habitable planets, no comet impact asteroid fields, no assassination events, nothing.

Econ isn't mega.  Can't remember, but I think there's at least one influence that isn't mega, either.

I've never noticed a difference having megas on or off with regards to normal events happening, but honestly it's been a while.

I have to ask, though: Expansion, version, and extreme world setting?

I have never gotten Pirates, Jagged Knife or Peace Keepers, Oh wait minute I did get Peace Keepers once but  they never attack me, they however attack all the other empires that attack me and then again I use good alginment. I have gotten the 5/pc move event alot.

Yeah...

I think every single game I've played Large or larger with megas on I've gotten that...regardless of how I play, or how fast I get things done.  It just hates me.

:(

That's strange, I think I've only had that particular event once or twice.

I know they're not mega events, but I'm just not getting anything.

TA 2.02, frequent random events, uncommon extreme planets. I could buy the extreme planet/random events link, but I got this same phenomenon in games before they gave us that adjustment.

Then maybe we can be pretty confidant that the majority of random events are indeed quite random.  I know there are specific conditions that make some events more likely, but overall they seem very well randomized.  I've had some frustration lately with not getting econ events in my mega-games.

I got both an econ event and a pop growth event just last night...it's a shame it wasn't an MV game, they happened one right after the other (literally, one turn) and I was still in year zero.

Oh, yes, and I was in fact evil.

Econ boom in Year 0....nice!  I dont know if I've ever had that happen.

I posted a new thread in the War Council at the Core.  Take a look and try it out. ;)
