Vendetta - a game mode for Sins multiplayer

Heres the rules...

Vendetta ,inspired by The Ship , Hl2 mod

Number of Players 3-10 any map.

Game Room Setup - Who hates who?

In the battle room , Player 1 hates Player 2 , Player 2 hates Player 3 , Player 3 hates Player 4 , and it goes round till the last player hates Player 1. So now you have someone who hates you ,and someone you hate.

Rules of Winning

Inorder to win the game you must be first one to eliminate the player you hate.

Alliances Rule

You can ally with anyone in this game.

Extra thoughts on this mode
You want to kill a player , but at the same time another player wants to kill you. If you kill the player who hates you , then you wont win , you only make the player who hates that player win.

yup, sounds like it would surely be interesting and produce some odd alliances along the way.

This is not really as twisted as you think if you think of it in less..emotional terms. I know Rise of Nations had a mode (can't remember the name) where you could invade only one player and try to destroy him. Once you did, you got points or whatever and got a new target.

This would be a fun addition, though I'd like to see it work like this:

1. Each empire is assigned a target. They have available a "bounty" (not the regular bounty, but simply a reward) that starts at 50,000 credits and decreases as time goes on.

2. The bounty pays out when the assigned empire is destroyed. The empire is given another bounty, now at 25,000 credits (half the original) to compensate for the players becoming generally more wealthy as time goes on and the already-paid-out bounties.

3. Players could still destroy other empires. You could, for example, message a guy and say 'help me attack this guy, and I'll give you a chunk of my bounty upon their destruction'. Then you'd send him the credits (or not!).

Well, I figure it's not like RoN where you would get a ton of attrition damage if you entered the wrong guy's territory. There's no real way to make it so you can only attack one person at a time without 1. giving away who you have to attack 2. feeling like you're in a virtual alliance

So I figure, there's two ways to make a user do something - negative feedback and positive feedback. So entice the user with LOT$$$$ OF CREDIT$$$$ instead, and watch as everyone takes each other out for profit.

It also means you're attacking and defending simultaneously at all times, and it means that if you successfully cash out you can invest your money in a new offensive fleet or use it to turtle if you're not doing so well. It also means that players getting their butts kicked have a incentive to stay on the offensive - if you're about to get destroyed, you could try to win the jackpot and make a final push and use that money to repel any invaders.

It might work better if it was 'capture the capital' rather than 'take all planets' though. If you're about to get invaded, you're not going to have time to attack another empire and wipe out all of their planets, much less use that money to build a defensive fleet.

Trouble with carbons idea is that it has to be implemented. My idea can actually just be done.

I like p5ys because it could lead to some very interesting defensive pacts.

P5y, the problem with your statement is that both game types aren't going to happen, because its too late to try to add them. Implementing either of them isn't likely to happen because -- as has been pointed out -- there just isn't time to add new features.

What I don't get is the difference you're seeing...

*whispers* my idea doesnt need special implementation ,players can enforce the rules themselves and just use the rules in a normal game. you will get the difference when you reread my post and understand that theres no hardcoded game parameters , just player enforce rules.

Similar to players enforcing a 2 max alliance limit which ive played a few games of. No need for implementation , people just make sure everyone understands the added rules.

To further the RoN parallel, I move that the mode be renamed Assassin, as in Rise of Nations, just to avoid confusion of terminology.
