BETA testers: Does the game get repeditive?

BETA testers: Does the game get repeditive?

A lot of strategy games for me at least do get repeditive. Once you level up and have built all the ships the game gets very SAME SAME.
It takes a special game to overcome this, where the combinations that can be achieved are limitless and people can use their imagination. Also an element of chance needs to have been built in so that even the largest fleet\empire can be outclassed by good players.
For that matter it should even be fun being blown to pieces by the opposition, and providing a canny delaying action for help to arrive.
Homeworld is a good example, you can experiment with fleet compositions forever to get the balance right for various missions. Anti-fighter, anti-installation etc

Graphice also play a role, a pretty game, like it or not, will hold ones attention a lot longer than a pixelated one will. If my ships look and feel cool and powerfull, then I am more likely to be proud of the fleet and just enjoy,

A good example of a repeditive strategy game was Star Trek armada, once you had built the tech tree once, the second time even, got old quickly. Only so many times could I see the 2d plane.

So the question stands, is this a game that will stand the test of time. Is their enough to hold ones attention for a whole game. Will I get half way through a huge starmap, only to find I really cannot be bothered repeating the same process on the rest of the starmap with the other nations?

1 + 1 = 2 is just not interesting to me. Thus two equally composited fleets played differently should = a different outcome 1(Xtactic + Ytactic) + 1(Ztactic) = 10 is the kind of thing I am looking for. BTW In insert stratgy anywhere you want for tactic.

I really hope they do improve the AI for singleplayer. I prefer that game mode.

I hope I did not pay, and beta test for, a Massive Multiplayer Online game...under the guise of a balanced Single player and Multiplayer game.

IE The AI is dumb and only good for fodder in a MMO online game. SHeez..

Its on the list of things to do, but with the game "in flux" they can't really polish the AI yet -- it makes no sense to spend time making the AI great when you're going to turn around and change things around it. They're doing all the "rough-work", yes, but its the fine detail work that makes a "good" AI.

I suppose *any* game would get repetitive if it was played long enough. The question is then, how do you prevent the game from feeling repetitive for as long as possible? Perhaps one way to do this, is to adjust or eliminate whatever makes the game feel tedious.
One of the things I find tiresome is how long it can take for ships and fleets to move and jump to different locations. If I'm staring at my screen waiting for my resources rise to the point where I can afford to research a tech, because my fleet has yet to arrive at a battle field, then I'm not having much fun.
Having researchable techs to increase ship speeds, or having a space structure that allows for quicker jumping in your systems would help.

As for AI I agree with xerxes, I would prefer having a good AI to a fun multiplayer. Because while I really like multiplayer, this game takes long enough with a small game, and while i would play it when I have the time to, my internet connection can be unstable, so while sometimes my internet is excellent, other times multiplayer is not a viable option.

Also about the waiting times for things, such as ships and resources, it can make you feel like going afk for a bit, but I also feel like if I do go afk, then someone may attack me, so I don't.

At any rate, I do like this game alot already. I am on my second game, having abandoned my first game because the map was small (I thought for a first game a small map would be better, it probably wasn't, as I encountered the enemies right away), and my current game has five systems, and four players, and while the AI does not seem fantastic at the moment, though good enough (for me at least) to play against. With an upgrade in AI intelligence and interactability (perhaps upgrading the diplomacy system), and the addition of the two other races, this game will be great.

I think that once people see all the restored game setup options and have access to all three races, Sins will have lots of replayability. Certainly I can see how some may play the current beta and go "meh" because the vast majority of stuff isn't available.  Hopefully folks will understand that this is a limited beta and that the full, final game will provide a much more content rich experience.

Most of us understand this very well From past beta test experience, most betas aren't really focused on one particular aspect of the game, as the current beta 3 is. Since Beta 3 is in extremely limited scope and is a technical beta much more than a gameplay one, it's only natural for things to be limited.

I imagine the decision to take a lot of features and such out was to eliminate as many variables as possible out of the equation to be able to do a much more controlled test and narrow down issues easier/faster. Since the fewer possibilities you have of what may be causing the issue, the easier it is to find the core of it and fix it, which should then propagate and not result in any problems with a full feature set.

But correct me if I'm wrong

though eve gives tons of new stuff in every free expansion

"Free" though has a bit different meaning when you're already paying every month just to play

This game sucks!!!!!! Now thats what a dum ass would say this game is great. Even with just one race it owns all other games. You can play it with just one race over and over and it is always exiting when u see your massive fleet whipe out your x ally. i reccomened it to everyone so if ur thinking "should i get this game" im "thinking your mad not to get it." so i hope you preorder and join the fun.

Divine Wrath I am more talking about whether or not the game, for beta testers atm, is repeditive after one or two games.
There are classic games you keep coming back to, homeworld is one of those, and...

When did I get off-topic? And when did I mention Homeworld? Also I don't recall keep returning to classic games with my 1 post (until now) in this tread.

True, though games such as world of warcraft (I may be wrong, but from my knowledge) dont even give as much on a regular cycle as EvE. Anyway, if Sins gives as many free patches with new content as gc II did, I will be a happy man.

Hey since when has Yarlen become such a playah that both eets and Multi are all over his lucious hair?

And anyways, I think the game isn't too repetitive thanks to random maps and circumstances.

The phase lanes in random maps where planets are added sure make it 'interesting'
