Wonders Not Exclusive???

I've played a couple of games now and I swear that I've built a wonder that says, "Only 1 in Galaxy" and then gotten the message that another race has built it too. This also appears to work in reverse, as exclusive wonders built by others still appear as available to build for me. Is this a bug or am I missing something? (Yes...I know the difference between 1 per race and 1 in the galaxy, so it's not that...)

This is a production queue issue. If you are producing a wonder and another race builds it first (or vice versa) you can continue building that wonder, it doesn't force you to change production, and when it is built you seem to get the benefits of the wonder too. I suspect a fix for this issue will be high on the priority list and would be included in one of the early patches.

Note: This also seems to affect Trade Goods.

Yeah I have seen this too. Its the honor system, you are supposed to take it out of your queue yourself.

Well, as long as the AI is making use of this "exploit", it's only fair for human players to make use of it as well. :p

I have noticed this too. Every wonder has two or three iterations in my universe.

A good fix for this would be to make it possible to use production already accrued from a wonder on another one (much like Civ), and force everyone to switch if someone builds it. If there's no wonders left to switch to, just leave the production points for use on a later one... although that could be abusable.

May I ask how? Of course I may. How? Can we sell semi-frictionless clothing to the Alexians? Are the Drengin interested in Sort-Of Ultra Spices that make everything taste like man-skin?

haha. You can still sell your trade goods to other people.

Sorry to bring this up again but I'm seeing this in a 1.02 game as well. I have a save from immediately after the Torians built the Galaxy's second Stock Exchange
Also if I use the "generic" governor it will build each "Only 1" item on each planet using that governor.

This is still an error in 1.02 as far as I've seen. You say it's supposed to fixed as of 1.01a? Or do you mean only the *human* player's queu is changed, because certainly the AI is building multi-wonders and trade goods.

I have also seen this error in 1.02 (A game I started last night)
I saw the Dregin build a Diplomatic Translators about a year after I first created Diplomatic Translators.

I have seen this in 1.02. I have captured a planet and it was building project that I already had.

No, it definitely hasn't been fixed yet. Or it's been fixed and rebroken. :)

I find that much of the time the game will take the appropriate item out of my build list, and out of production, if another civ builds it. But it doesnt seem to do it near as often for the AI civs. In other words, the AI civs are much more likely to build a duplicate than I am.

Frogboy, I have v1.01a.
If 2 civs are building the same galactic wonder (1 per galaxy) and 1 of them has finished it, the other is still able to build it.

Yep...it still happens in 1.02!!

And a question: If i build diplomatic translators first.... can other civs build them too but have to pay me for them? What happens if i trade it... do i lose my 'patenting' on it?

Problem still exists in 1.02.036. Happened to my also, lots and lots of tradegoods were created.

Another bump...to make sure Frogboy realizes his post #6 is incorrect. :)
