Issue about how caps gain expierence

Ok Ive just got this question and a few quirks and discussion...

1) You get exp from participation in firing

2) You get the kill if your bullet hit it last , ala counterstrike

3) You get exp from just being there when a ship dies.

4) combination of the above where one gets most points and others get a tiny bit.

Discussion points....

Awkward micro : people are microing intensively and kinda stupidly to squeeze out exp. example - having 20 cobalts kill all buildings down to 100 health , then letting the cap kill them all.

Exp Spread : How is expierence points spread amongst caps? Do all caps get the alloted amount or is it spread

Bombard Exp : Should caps get expierence points from Bombarding. maybe per second?

It works very simple. Every capital ship in the grav well, where the enemy killed happens, gets experience. Also experience is shared. Ie. if there are 2 capitals and a 50 exp pirate is killed, both capitals get 25 exp.

That are the only conditions.

Most definitely not, considering that capitals can sometimes sit and bomb a planet for 10 minutes uninterrupted...

lol, yeah.

But they should get massive experience for killing a planet, as opposed to just bombarding it

Maybe not massive exp, but something we could all live with.

not to threadjack, but why does a level one capship only give twice as much xp as a cobalt???

and especially Marza's should get xp from bombardment since that's what they do...

All capships seem to give rather slim amounts of XP, compared to what you'd expect. In the process of killing a Sova, you get more XP from its sattelite launches than the Sova kill itself!

I thought taking out planets gave experience now?

Also, do your capital ships get experience when they participate in a multi-sided fight and an enemy kills another enemy ship? What about when an ally kills an enemy ship?

When enemy ships/structures gets destroyed in that given grav well all caps share the experience that ship/structure is worth.

Though one thing i havent found out yet is how or why caps sometimes gets xp when fighting without something gets destroyed

In an online game, an enemy was chasing me and there were also pirates present. He was fighting with the pirates so I thought I could mooch some XP by just hanging out while he destroyed them but it didn't seem to work. So it would seem that the game is aware of who (as in which player) made the kill and awards XP based on that.

Then again I could have been mistaken - don't rule that possibility out

One thing this has led me to think about is if you work a strategy of having only one capital backed by a fleet support made up of frigates rather then a mixture of a few caps and frigates then your cap should improve alot more since its the only cap gaining all the expierence points. I might try this out but Ill have to adapt my tactics to make this strategy work.
