This thread is for technical feedback for Sins of a Solar Empire Beta 3.

Please reply to this post if you'd like to make: a bug report, let us know about a compatibility issue, graphics issues, performance reports, etc. (i.e., technical stuff).

If you encounter a crash, Sins should automatically generate a minidump file. Could you add a retype password field in the create profile menu. My friend has already mistyped his password while creating his account, and now can't access it.

zooming to mouse jossles.
When zooming out the camera shifts around as if not knowing what to focus on

Heroine, please use the edit button next time instead of multiposting each little bug.

Could you try to pool your comments into one post or rather less posts? Please. I've been checking here every 10 minutes, litterally... are you going through the menu and posting every 2 minutes?

Pretty Please?

for some reason my mouse keeps losing the cursor... i can still select items if i know where the cursor should be...

there is a timeout on editing... sorry
other wise i would

Rally points that are placed more then 1 jump away do not work. All ships stop after the first jump

Jumping groups of ships is broken as well. A group of ships set to jump NOT AS A GROUP will figure out the best spot to jump as a group and go there even if it is farther away for 3/4 of the ships. Instead of just jumping as singular units.

You may notice in the background a yellow circle over the astroid, that is where my mouse is, samethign happens with that lightning thing.

I can confirm these bugs as well, of particular annoyance was the mysterious dropping of sound.

Ok, here's the biggy. "Failed to convert 'HUDICON_ABILITY_PHASEJUMPDISRUPTIONTECH' to an enum value." Yes, this again. It happened to me in the last update of beta 2, and didn't affect anything, so far as I saw. I have done complete uninstall/reinstalls for both updates, and done another one for beta 3. While it doesn't affect anything in single player, I can't play multiplayer because my game data differs from everyone else's.

oh heres a good one

That pink ship is not jumping it is mearly flying... so are the pirate ships.

The path it says it is taking is back to that astroid then jumping to where its going right now

Later on i lost 3 more ships "flying" out there from an un-connected planet. (the planet's paths can be seen converging on the right side. There is no path from there to the top left.)

When the ship got there it disapeered... but i was able to select it.

^^^ thought they fixed that in this new beta.

bah this problem with the mouse makes it impossible to play... i tried reducing the graphics but nothing... the cursor tracks the mouse for like 5 seconds and then loses it... the only way to get it back is alt-tab out and then back in again... anyone know a quick fix?

We are looking at them all Strateggi, did you wipe your directory before installing? Heronine4life, is it only happening with scouts?
So far yes. All the scouts were set to auto explore as well.

random map generator is spawning some very strange maps.

Medium size, it placed 6 players in the same solar system. the other 2 solar system were emtpy.
Thx for the info. Stick with the designed maps for now, randoms are iffy.

Wow, I feel like an idiot. I thought I got rid of everything before, but everything seems to be in order now. Thanks for the advice, Blair.

Ok I already have a problem that is probably of my own creation. Im running a dual Opteron 2.0 system 4 GB ECC Corsair XMS ram 3200 and a 7950GT Nvidia card Evga. Windows XP Pro. My problem is that the game started fine. I go to options and select 1680 x 1050 resolution, I play all my games in this resolution eg: Supreme Commander, WoW, Galactic Civs II, Overlord, Vanguard, the list can go on. Well anyways once the game adjusted it just errors out to screen. Of course I sent in a few feedbacks per the beta error log. I uninstalled and will reinstall and try again but is there a way that I can check to get the original resolution. I have a sneaking suspicion that the ECC ram will not like this game. HoMM V is the only other game I can think of that also didnt like my system. Never played it because of that fact.

You can change your resolution manually ala the instructions in the FAQ. Quick version is to open user.setting and adjust the window width and height.

Last time I logged into ICO I couldn't host games. No firewall is on, my DSL modem is set to forward ports 6000-6010 on both TCP and UDP, and my AV software is not running at all, but people still can't join my games. I *can* join games, just not host.

I've hit a snag with ICO. I created a new account, logged in, hit create character, filled out a name but nothing happened. So I tired a few more times and still nothing. I tired to back out of ICO and relog. It says "You are already logged in." I then restarted my client and attempted to log in again. same "You are already loged in." It's been throwing that dialog at me for 10 minutes now. I just made a new account, with the new one character creation occurred fine and I'm now able to access the lobby. I can log in and out with the second account I created without issue but the first one still says I'm logged in.
