The Endoran Coalition of Worlds

The Endoran Coalition of Worlds

I hope you enjoy my first AAR

Hello everyone!

This is my first AAR, and i'm sorry to tell you that I don't have DA

I didn't record the first few years of this galaxy very accurately, but nothing exciting happened, so your not missing anything.

I'm going to take a story-like approach, but I'll explain what I'm doing if you are confused by my tactics, just ask. I'm not very good at GalCiv2, but I enjoy it.

For the first entry I'll be putting in my civ's backstory.

The Birth of, The Endoran Coalition of Worlds:

The history of The Endoran Coalition of Worlds, less formaly known as The Endoran Coalition and commonly referred to as The Coalition, goes back 1000 years to First Contact between 4 alien races that inhabited the Endor system.

These races were wary of eachother, but relations were good. After nearly 200 years a terrorist organization killed several key leaders in three of the civilizations. Of course the new leaders of these civilizations blamed Endor III, the un-affected one, even though an attempt was made on their ruling body aswell. A war errupted with Endor III fighting on three fronts. Eventually the others allied together, but this was brief. Differences between them caused the alliance to shatter and soon everyone was at war with everyone.

500 years of war nearly destroyed them all, and thats when the probe arrived...

The probe addressed the leaders of Endor III. The transmission said the probe was constructed by the Korx, and that they wished to aid Endor III against her aggressors. Seeking any way to end the bloodshed they put forth all their effort to construct a Stargate with the designs given to them by the Korx.

Because of the constant battles fought near their space they couldn't assemble it in orbit, they had to build it in pieces then assemble it when all was ready. They're plan was to create a lunar base by hollowing out a portion of their small moon.

After 10 years it was complete, but the resources required severely depleted the war effort, and it was all they could do to defend the Stargate before they activated it.

Three days of fighting passed before the Korx ships emerged through the event horizon. The ships were magnificent. To their horror, the Korx ships annihilated every ship in orbit, friend and foe.

Realizing the mistake they had made, the builders of the gate overloaded it's reactor, destroying it utterly.

The Korx were now trapped, they had no choice but to conquer these four war-torn races, or face a long dark voyage to an uninhabitated world.

Facing a new threat the four races declared a cease-fire until the Korx could be dealt with. But when the Korx seized Endor II they all realized it would take their combined fleets working in tandem to defeat this new foe.

After two years of war against the Korx the four races grew to respect eachother, atleast their militaries did. Four years into the war the Korx were driven from the system, but the Endor system had suffered greatly. All but Endor Prime was rendered completely uninhabitable, and Endor II was in such a state that it would take centuries of terraforming before anyone could live there.

The remaining survivors of the war all gathered at Endor Prime. Each race settled a different region of the planet and rebuilt their respective civilizations. To prevent any further hostilities, and to defend against any further incursions by the Korx, the survivors created an alliance. The alliance was dubbed, the Endoran Coalition of Nations.

Although it began as an alliance of four sovereign nations, it evolved as the international government gained more power, and the governments of the planet became more unified.

After 100 years of rebuilding on Endor Prime the terraforming of Endor II began. Scientists estimated that it would reach Class 4 in 200 years, to improve it further would require research far beyond the current capabilities of the Coalition. It was also at this time that The Endoran Coalition of Nations ceased to be four seperate nations and was united under a single governing body, namely a military council.

Knowing that their were advanced races out there who could likely crush the struggling Coalition with little effort was disquieting, to say the least. So the Coalition made sure that their soldiers were always ready to counteract any attempt to threaten its independence. Amongst other things, the Coalition focused on makeing sure it could find its enemies, if the need should arise.

Recognizing the potential of the Stargate technology, a scientist by the name of Korzak secretly did research into makeing a portable version of the space folding technology behind the gate. He needed to conduct this research secretly because it was a serious crime to conduct experiments on the Hell Gate Technology, as it was called by the populace. After 20 years of working on a secret space station Korzak completed an experimental Hyperspace engine. Detecting the energy build up in his reactors Coalition authorities closed in on him. When they approached he activated his hyperdrive, stunning the crew. Needless to say, his research was officially commissioned by the Science Ministry.

By 2223 the Coalition had completed their first Hyperspace functional ship, and construction began on two new vessels, the ECS Pathfinder and the ECS Sunflower. The Pathfinder was equipped with sensors that had been salvaged from a derelict space-craft that floated into the system.

Finding that their current form of government was woefully inadaquate to govern an interstellar empire, the ruling council decided to set up a temporary dictator until they could find a way to govern an interstellar empire effectively.

While the Council made the nominations, it was the people who chose their leader. On December 31st, 2224, Sereg-Thol was sworn into public service. The young general protested the idea of a dictator, even a temporary one, and this is exactly why he was chosen. The people were sure he would cast off the mantel of leadership when the time came.

Yes, the Terrans are the only force in the sector that could possibly threaten the Coalition. But first the Coalition must implement 'The Plan,' they have for the Dominion.

"But first the Coalition must implement 'The Plan,' they have for the Dominion."

Why am I getting the notion that "The Plan" is total annihilation?
Annihilation, Assimilation, who is to know?

The problem with GalCiv2 is the unrealistic land battles. I doubt I'd have to slaughter an entire planet in-order to take it

So when I write the AAR I can say that I took the planet with few casualties, or I commited genocide, depending on the moral standards of the society I'm playing, the society i'm facing, the history between the two, and what kind of mood I'm in or was in during the invasion

Somehow I feel that I wrote this particular part extremely well...

Part XII: Recovery

One month later, Plaza of Chama's Grace, Paulos IV:

"It is true, that myself, and the entire Coalition, are deeply angered, and even more deeply hurt, by the betrayel of the Paulosian governemnt. However, we do not blame the Paulosian people. We wish to correct the mistakes done by your government. As citizens of the Coalition you will be able to move about the over 100 worlds in our great nation freely. No longer will you suffer from overpopulation. No longer will you face unfair taxation. No longer will you suffer from a lack of the most basic of amenities.
I have a message for you from the 1.08 trillion citizens I represent. 'Welcome, to The Endoran Coalition of Worlds!'" Sereg-Thol was getting better at this, even he could see that.

Just as he had seven years ago, Korzak II congradulated his boss on another diplomatic function gone extremely well. After standing and waving at the cheering crowd of millions for several minutes Sereg-Thol was pulled away. More meetings, more interviews and files to read, more offices that needed to be replaced in the Paulosian government.

On the bridge of the PathFinder:

"Good, then repairs are complete? Form up with the fleet and set a course for the Dark Yor homeworld, apparently they are to dangerous to be kept as is. We have some people who are working on reprogramming them. However, if its too dangerous we'll just scrap 'em."

"Alright Rochek, sounds good. We'll be ready to move in about an hour." Captain Soaren responded, and ended the transmission.

"Sir, we have a Priority One transmission from the Minister of Intelligence. Should I route it to your ready room?"

"Yeah, go ahead Henry."

Rochek walked into his ready room and activated the console. "This is Admiral Rochek, to what do I owe this honor?" Rochek was feeling very good after having gotten through his first fleet engagement without incident and spending an entire month on shore leave.

"YOU IDIOT! Do you have any idea what you may have done!" Intelligence's eyes were glowing a strange hue of yellow, similar to Rochek's infact. Which signalled to Rochek that something was very wrong, because Arceans eyes are normally very green.

Rochek became very formal, sitting up in his chair and hardening his face. "Sir, I don't know what you mean."

"Listen to this and tell me what you did wrong." Rochek heard his own voice over the intercom.

"Sir, I don't understand."

"Let me help bring it into focus for you. The Paulosian were trading our tech with the Terrans, who don't know we plan to assimilate them. When you contacted the Paulos you used an open transmission, because the Paulosians don't have our encryption codes, for obvious reasons. Which means anyone could have heard the transmission. Now lets highlight a very special sentence."

Rochek heard his voice again, this time louder, 'trading stolen Coalition technology to enemies of the Coalition.'

"Oh my gods..."

"I see you understand now. I should have you court marshalled, unfortunately that can't be done with further risk of a leak. You lucked out this time Kanoan." The transmission ended.

"What have I done?"

The Paulosian Prime Minster's Office:

If it weren't for the cheering crowds and love letters from 6 year olds I'd have blown my brains out years ago. Sereg-Thol chuckled to himself as he read another marriage proposal from a 'little' Arcean girl in a primary school on Arcadius V. Cute kids. You gotta know your doing a good job when the kids love you. Because its always children who have the best judge of character. Adults are bogged down by their unwillingness to assume, by their desire to be politically correct. And whats so correct about politics? Sereg-Thol asked himself. He'd been asking himself that question for almost 20 years now, and he still didn't have the answer. By the Rok'lith I hate this job.

Three days of meetings went by and Sereg-Thol had finally finished all the business on Paulos IV. But on Terra another meeting was going on, and it involved some very different business.

"Can't you see whats going on? They are beginning their bid for galactic domination! It starts with the Paulos, then the other lesser nations. Soon they'll be coming for the rest of us! Who knows, they may even turn on their allies in the Drengin and Thalan Empires!"

"What your really worried about is that the Coalition defeated you 300 years ago and now your worried they're going to finish the job." Lord Vega had no sympathy for the conniving Kralax of Korx. If he was 'assimilated' by the Coalition, then too bad.

"Perhaps, but they already control 60% of the United Planets votes, how much more will you let them expand?"

"The Arcean Empire has always been on friendly terms with the Coalition, and we've never posed a threat to them." Lord Vega let out a deep chuckle, "Their Minister of Intelligence is a distant cousin of mine, I have no worries about the Coalition knocking at my doorstep."

"Perhaps your right, but you, Alan Bradley, have not always been friendly with the Coalition."

"Hey, we were worried that you were going to finish the job you started 300 years ago, and protecting that huge border of Sereg-Thol's was very expensive."

"You didn't fool Sereg-Thol with that pile of Xaxan fodder, and your not fooling me. You saw an opportunity to exploit a soft and fat civilization, and you took it. Don't get me wrong, I admire your tenacity, but you didn't examine all the variables. The Endoran Coalition of Worlds defeated us 300 years ago with inferior technology and a war weary populace, but they had 200 years of battle experience and they outnumbered us. Right now the Coalition not only outnumbers your Terran Alliance 3:1, but they have superior technology. Your only advantage is your stronger ships. But not even they are a real advantage."

"What do you mean?" Alan Bradley knew the game, don't ask how your opponent knows what they know, just find out what they know.

"My sources tell me that the PathFinder fleet's attack power has atleast 20 points more of attack strength. By the way Bradley, Sereg-Thol knows what your doing."

"What?!" Bradley was shocked for several reasons. All those billions of credits and he still couldn't fight the ever expanding Coalition toe-to-toe. What does Kralax actually know? How did Sereg-Thol find out? What do we do if Sereg-Thol retaliates?

"The computer core you tried to buy was destroyed by a team of highly trained Coalition Special Operations soldiers. As you all know, that is Sereg-Thol's excuse for taking Paulos. However, what you don't know is the transmission sent to Praetor Corgus when the PathFinder fleet entered orbit around Paulos IV." Kralax pulled out a holo-emitter, set it on the table and pressed a button to activate the recording.

The face of a very imposing reptilean alien appeared and identified itself as Admiral Rochek of the Endoran Coalition of Worlds. When it said 'trading technology to enemies of the Coalition' Alan Bradley jumped out of his chair and began pacing franticly, looking in every direction for some kind of support and finding none.

Uh-oh. Someone's in trouble...

"Uh-oh. Someone's in trouble..."

The question is, who's in more trouble: The Terrans or a certain Crochan?
Somehow, despite numbers, I'm pretty sure it's the Terrans.

Well done, General, well done. I look forward to more.
Not bad. Not bad at all.
Quite good. Quite good indeed.

Keep up the good work!
General? I wrote this AAR, General Homsar is writing 'Rise of the Earth Federation.' Unfortunately there hasn't been any new posts for two weeks on that AAR.

The question is, who's in more trouble: The Terrans or a certain Crochan?

By the way General, I believe you meant Kanoan

Haha, go ahead and correct both of us at once. I have no defense.

But if you updated again it'd be more clear to me.

Sorry about that I'll put something up today

Sorry I didn't post it when I said I would, real life can be such a pain.

Part XIII: Revelation

"They consider us their enemy!? But why?!"

"Why do you think? You are the only faction in the galaxy that threatens them. With a concerted effort you could eventually take down the Coalition; but it would take several years, trillions of credits, and billions of lives. Of course you would be better off with help, perhaps from myself and Lord Vega here?"

"I have said this already, I will not get involved in a conflict with the Coalition. Besides, I'm not so sure I would be doing much different if I were in Sereg-Thol's position. You have behaved quite badly toward him Bradley, and you were foolish for doing so."

"The only reason you didn't do the same thing I did was because you didn't have the firepower to back it up, and you still don't, so you can just shove it."

"Watch it little Terran. On Arcea we feed creatures your size to our pet horkens."

"No, you better watch it Vega. Your on my homeworld, and I still control the strongest navy in the galaxy. Any threat to me is tantamount to a declaration of war, remember that."

"And you should remember that the Coalition considers you their enemy. How do you think Sereg-Thol would react to you declaring war? Sounds like the perfect excuse for an invasion to me."

"You better think hard about that. Its just as likely that he will take your worlds to keep me from having them."

Kralax of Korx normally liked to watch the other races fight amongst themselves, it made them more... agreeable, to his trade propositions. However, now he needed these two to get along, because the biggest threat to them all was not among them, but out there. So Kralax interrupted the argument, "Gentlemen this is not the time for threats, this is the time for discussion. Surely, Lord Vega, you can see the threat posed by the Coalition? Perhaps not today, perhaps not tommorow, but in a few years Sereg-Thol's opinion about the Arcean Empire may change. Or perhaps his successor will deem you a threat, or maybe the Coalition will adopt a policy of Manifest Destiny. We cannot take that risk, we must find a way to stem the tide."

"I don't need to hear any more of your manipulations Kralax, I'm leaving." At that Lord Vega stood up and left the room, presumably to get to his ship and make his way back to Arcea.

"Kralax, I thank you for this information, but I don't believe an overt display of force, or an alliance between us, will help. I believe that to do either of these would only exacerbate the problem. I will be stepping up production of my fleets and reorganizing my defenses, I suggest you do the same."

"I am sorry that we could not reach some sort of agreement. And thank you for the advice Alan Bradley. In return I would like to give you some advice. Do not underestimate Sereg-Thol, he is both cunning and blunt. He despises politics and doesn't like to play games. If he suspects something he will act on it swiftly and unerringly."

"Thanks, I'll remember that." Kralax rose and made the Korxian bow that signafied a goodbye, which consisted of raising his hands above his head and to his sides and dipping slightly forward. Bradley mimiced the maneuver and Kralax left.

"Damn it all, why did the Korx have to send that probe? If it hadn't been for that damn invasion the Endoran's would be sitting in a museum right now."

Office for the Minister of Intelligence of the Endoran Coalition of Worlds:

Intelligence sat at his desk reading reports from various field operatives and informants from around the galaxy when he read a quite chirping. He finished his paragraph and touched the contact on his comm console, "This is Intelligence, what is it?"

"Sir, we have a Priority One intelligence report coming in from one of our people in the Dominion."

"Patch it through to my console." A few seconds later his screen lit up with a recorded message. The face that it showed was a Drengin who worked on a Dominion freighter. The agent was officially under the employ of the Drengin Empire, but was under direct orders from Lord Kona to report to the Coalition if she found anything that they would find interesting or important.

"The freighter recently came into contact with a ship heading for the Lentzlandians system, and I thought you would be interested." The image on the screen looked down for a few seconds and then looked up as another video opened in the corner of the screen. This other recording depicted a ship consisting of multiple constructin styles, the most prominent were the Endoran/Drengin, the Terran, and Paulosian. The voice on the screen began speaking again, "I analyzed its energy signature, the propulsion system was some kind of early Hyperwarp engine. The ship purchased a few supplies, in exchange they gave us plans for more advanced computer systems. I took a look, the designs were unmistakably Coalition in origin. Looks like we've found your runaway war criminals."

Intelligence cracked a huge smile and moved the transmission to a portable memory crystal. As he stood up to visit Sereg-Thol's office he thought to himself, We've got you now.

Yeah! Screw Real Life. The graphics are aren't good enough anyway. The sound effects suck too. And the gameplay campaign makes me get a job. That sucks! Boo on the developers!

Btw, nice story. Still bookmarked.

@Rasori: That'll do buddy, that'll do...

Oh man, sorry I haven't posted in like, two weeks. The story is in a transition period, and I'm having trouble bridging the gap. But here is the first half of the bridge.

Part XIV: Measurements and Calculations...

A few minutes later, in Sereg-Thol's office:

"Hello Minister, find out anything interesting lately?"

"As a matter of fact, mister Prime Minister, I have. A Drengin agent on a Dominion freighter informed us that the escaped Paulosian vessel was spotted heading for the Lentzlandians system. We've finally caught the sneaky bastards... sir."

Defense suddenly stood up at this information and spoke, "That's perfect! The Lentzlandians system is near the far eastern corner of the galaxy, it'll make a perfect foothold for invading the Dominion's holdings there. If we are lucky our increased influence in the area will cause some of them to defect. 'The best victory is a victory without battle,' after all."

"Master Herhoth?" Sereg-Thol offered.

Intelligence shook his head, "Andaga."

"I'm impressed Intelligence, I wouldn't expect an Arcean to know about philosopher-strategists from Ancient Endoran History."

"You insult me Sereg-Thol, I am not an Arcean anymore. I know plenty about the sword-smith and priest of the Eren war god, Blood Helm."

"Then I'm sure you know that I was named after him, Sereg-Thol is Eren for Blood Helm."

"Okay, sorry to interupt the history lesson, but do you have anything else we need to know?" Defense didn't like it when a conversation went off on a tangent.

"Nothing worth mentioning right now. I came immediately after I got this information."

"Sir, I would like permission to deploy the fleet and two Assimilators to acquire the Lentzlandian homeworld."

"Permission denied. You may have the ships, but you will not acquire the planet until all other options are exhausted. There will already be the coming conflicts with the Dark Yor, Korx, and Terrans, I want to keep the number of conflicts we are in to a minimum. I may hate politics, but it doesn't mean I don't have to follow the rules sometimes."

"Sir, there was no political fallout with the Paulos invasion, and the battle itself was uneventfull for the most part. Why should we expect any different with the Lentzlandians and Dark Yor?"

"Because if we don't we may end up like the Korx did 300 years ago." Intelligence pined in.

"Are you trying to say the Lentlandians could defeat us?!" Defense asked, incredulous.

"I have to admit Intelligence, he has a point."

"Of course not, thats ridiculus. But we know for a fact that several of the other powers in the galaxy do not trust us. If we start too many wars they may see us as a threat and declare war. Now, I admit we could handle any one of them, maybe even two, but we couldn't handle all three of the major powers. We have to be carefull how we go about this."

"Sorry Defense, but he's right. If we can convince the Lentzlandians to give up the escaped Paulosians than we will not invade. If they refuse, they will face charges of harboring war criminals and obstructing justice. Depending on popular Lentzlandian opinion, we may be forced to help them set up a new government and leave. If they like the idea enough they may just follow the Paulosians and join the Coalition."

"Maybe you should get Foreign Affairs to work on how to pursuade them?" Intelligence added.

"Good idea, I'll talk to him in a few minutes. Let me know when either of you come up with something else, okay?" The two ministers nodded and left for their offices.

On the Paulosian vessel on route to Lentzlandia:

"I still don't think it was a good idea to use the stolen schematics to pay for the supplies." One Paulosian said.

"What harm could come of it? The freighter was a Dominion ship, they wouldn't supply the Coalition with information."

"Yes, but the fact that the Coalition not only knew we stole their technology, but also that we were trading it with the Terrans proves that they have an extensive espionage network. The Korx are their enemy, if they have a spy network established anywhere at all it'll be the Dominion." Replied the first.

A third Paulosian joined the conversation, "He's right, the Coalition will be looking for us with a fine-toothed comb. We don't want to leave any traces behind."

The first Paulosian spoke again, "See? We need to be carefull."

"Look, I don't like it either. We just didn't have anything else of value to trade, unless one of you wanted to become an indentured serveant. You know, for the safety of the group." The sarcasm in the second Paulosian's voice was evident as he looked at the faces of the group with his webbed palms upturned. None of them could look him straight in the eye, because none of them had a decent rebuttal. "I didn't think so. Now, about this business with the Lentzlandians. How sure are we they will let us onto the surface? The welcome from the Akkilians and the Korx wasn't very, well, welcoming."

"Because they're beliefs prohibit them from turning out strangers. They believe it is the worst of luck to deny a traveller safe harbor."

The fourth Paulosian, a female, broke her silence, "But they also believe that if that same traveller brings ill fortune to their house, or in this case their planet, they have the right to decapitate said traveller. If the Endorans come knocking at Lentzlandia's door we will not have to worry about life imprisonment on an Endoran prison colony, the Lentzlandians will issue a lynching permit to the nearest district."

"Well aren't you the optimist?" The third Paulosian said.

"No, just a realist. The more we know about Lentzlandian culture, the safer we'll be. As they say, 'When in Rome.'"

"You mean as the Terrans say. If it wasn't for those fracking Terrans and their security issues we wouldn't be stuck in the middle of the Eastern Wastes trying to find a planet that isn't scared shitless of the Coalition and will take us in." said the third.

"Hey, if the Prime Minister and Ghal hadn't decided to undergo that whole business with the core we would still be on Paulos IV and in our comfortable estates." The second said.

"Yeah, paid for with embezzled money." The first one added, almost under his breath.

"Hey, don't go growing a conscience on us now." The fourth responded.

"Hey, I have an idea. What if we just lied?" The fourth asked.

"What do you mean?" Two asked.

"Well, if we make it look like we were set up, than the Lentzlandians won't turn us out. They will defend us from the Coalition, they'll have to."

"Don't tell me, bad luck?"

"Exactly. Like I said, 'When in Rome.' Those Terrans may have some issues, but they've come up with a few bright ideas in their time. You should read 'The Art of War.' Might have saved our asses."

"Bull shit, not even Chama himself could have saved us."

"You know what? I already have an idea on how to pull it off." Over the next hour the four former Paulosian high officials discussed and argued over the fourth's plan.

"Okay, I think this is a good plan. By the way, how did you get the idea?"

"When you hear this your going to shit yourself you'll laugh so hard. Ready? From the Endorans. Eh? Good huh? They have dozens of ideas on how to go to war without starting one. So I figured that we could tweak one of them to fit our situation. All we have to do is add this fake plan to the real ones, and show them the files."

"Wait, how are we going to explain us having the Endoran war scenarios? I mean, how we have their tech is already in there."

"We'll figure that out along the way, right now its late and I don't know about you, but I'm tired." At that the four dismissed and went to their quarters. This would be the first night in a long time that any of them would have dreams, as opposed to the nightmares of the previous weeks.
