Mentoring Program

So I can feel useful...

I think we should have a mentoring program to help people learn about how to play Sins as well as teach them forum/IRC etiquette.

Why does the syringe have a skull and cross bones on it?

How about a specific thread for new players to ask questions and/or get advice on strategy? Multianna's videos are still the best training and advertising for the game so far.

the tuts dont really cover everything... and... well... im reduced to doing this all day... http://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/2007/08/07/

I think the tuts could be expended a tad, but saying that they don't teach you anything is a bit far fetched, they aren't bad tuts,
Reply #8 Top
uhm... who said they dont teach anything???
Oh c'mon be original and make your own strategies. If your forced to copy other peoples ideas maybe you should stick to big galaxies and hide in a corner.

who said anything about stealing strategies???

are there invisiposts that im not seeing?

No, shib is just afraid that "mentoring" would just become another form of "coercing" new players to follow the party line

pfff, nobody here except kosc is that cruel
Reply #13 Top
I'm not cruel...

eetmorsqrls you have swayed me to your proposal. These last two posts have proven your argument. Did you bribe them?

I don't think it is so much etiquette as the ability to read or to comprehend. Since this game is global maybe something is being lost in the translation. Perhaps the forum should be redone in semaphore

There are a few people who could be a little nicer.

and you and kryo arent the same person either...

They arent...
I'm so confused...
Me too, did you suddenly fuse with Kryo while I was gone or is Eetmorsqrls just a raving lunitic?

By the way eetmorsqrls, what did sqrls ever do to you?
so many things to respond to...

A) no, i didnt, but it would have been a good idea XD

B) ty for being swayed

C) lol@semaphore

D) yes they are

E) <3 kosc, <3

F) they have always been the same person, and yes I am

G) Everything.

I've seen squirrely in a lot of my posts and replies too. The man is vicious. You don't want to be at the same dinner table with him.

Also (i know this reply is kind of delayed) I didn't mean that people shouldn't be sharing strategies. I'm saying the rats (i just saw the departed teehee) that use the same crap and making the game boring. I don't think their is much strategy in this game at all and before you post the crap out of me I can explain myself.

Every round is new. Every environment is different. Sure you might have a nice little set up of when I have X credits I buy Y and save up for Z. Sure you can send 5 ships in to lure the fleet away as the main force flanks and chips away the gauss turrets. But what else is there? Every environment, every defense plan, every building tactic is never going to be the same. That's what makes the game fun. It makes you think on your feet (or office chair) and be creative. Every round is something you've never expirienced before.

Also save lordkosc for beta 3 multiplayer. You can kick his ass up a wall (or a tree for sqrls) AND THEN tell him about strategy.

I love how this post started with proper etiquette.

ok shib... I was talking about getting people started in the game, not saying that people should give away any strategies they might have, and at this point it wouldnt even matter if strats were given away since the game is supposed to change considerably by beta 3.

and kosc is my buddeh, im not gonna kick him, im gonna be nice and blow him up

and i think that this thread has been quite civil with the exception of a few comments.

I think I came up with a new name for you there KOSC....Mr. Bill for as often as you use the  emote. Every time I see it I always think of that high pitched "OOOOooooh" that Mr. Bill does whenever something bad happens to him.

LOL! or maybe we could call him a horse named Mr. Ed.
