New Player question

Ciould someone tell me how you capture an enemy occupied Planet/System? Do you have to destroy all the structures there or is there a trick to taking over the planet?
Any help would be appreciated.

You need to bomb the planet until it is neutral , then colonize it.

yes we know there should be other ways of doing this but it is cool killing all the people on the planet. "die you savages!!!!!!!!!!!"  
I think the other sides will get better ways of killing the planet like the advent thing where they use thier mind stuf to make the population revolt destroying the infulstructure.

Yep, non-violent conqest options are in the future. Until then though, just bomb it with capital ships and krosovs, then recolonize it.

If you play the basic tutorial, it will take you step by step through the process of taking over an enemy planet.
