Empire thread --> The Gerontocracy

The Gerontocracy is here, and the universe will never be the same.

This empire is intended for players over the age of 30, hence the name of the empire. Judging by other threads, that means about 89% of us. For that other 11%, my advice is to hurry up and get older; in the meantime, though, there are plenty of other empires to join, even if they're not nearly as awesome as we are.

I'm exploring this whole 'empires' thing right now. Is there an easy way to look at the most recent actions of each empire? e.g. click here to see the last 10 games posted for Gerontocracy, who they were, what score, what result?

And... that Kzinti empire looks unimaginably HUGE. There are a lot of hungry cats...

More prey is always good... Although the Gerontocrats are usually too dry and stringy for our taste. We like our food-animals to be fresher. ;)

Is there an easy way to look at the most recent actions of each empire? e.g. click here to see the last 10 games posted for Gerontocracy, who they were, what score, what result?


With the exception of occasional update problems like we're seeing with ghostwes, the AltMeta can do sort of what you ask. The chart for the empires there has some dropdowns you can twiddle to do things like reduce the display to just the past month's postings.

Individual player pages, like yours do list the last games posted (update errors aside).

If there's a way to do that stuff at the official Metaverse site, I've never figured it out. The interface there has always put me off a bit, and I'm a bit biased in favor of the AltMeta on account of having been active in the Metaverse Council when the alternative scoring and ranking schemas were developed.

Not that I know of. And since the forum upgrades started it's even lost some of its functions. The "forum stats" part of it hasnt been grabbing new info from the forums for months now.

any way just calling in not dead..

hmm need to do some meta games.. ranked 211.. swore i would stay in the top 100.. oh well life needs a bullet for getting in the way of galciv.. time to kick some tail pipes of those young nebula skaters after I finish those pesky dread lords off.

If any of you are on xfire look me up X-fireand let me know you from the galciv mob..

Now to rescue my one year old son from the router cords in the corner.. No Max don't pull that cor....

Thanks for the invitation. I think the age posted in my profile isnt correct... But anyway, I just hit 30 so i think I qualify anyway.

I don´t know how this empire stuff works and what they are for, but it sound nice to be amember of an empire...
I tried to figure out how the total score was calculated in the metaverse. I thought it was the sum of all games played, but that didnt match up when I loked at most players profiles. Is it the average score perhaps?? Anyway, I think one should get credited for reaching the highest score with the least amount of games or something like that

The scores of the games you submit depreciate over time. There is an exact listing somewhere that shows the multiplier. I believe that eventually old scores will be as low as 65% of their original value. This way you need to keep playing to stay on top of the charts and to keep your empire competitive too.

You had better believe it. Reminds me, you keeping that remote start key thingmajing polished for that Terror star of evil?
You never know when you will need it to reflect that halo glow from those upstart confused do gooders .

PS don't put that defibrillator away.. It's almost as good as a coffee in the morning and it doubles as a good security scrambler on those old cargo trader models

Not just life, but downright friskiness. Thanks mostly to the new folks, we've managed to pull ahead of the Yuuzhan Vong to take 6th on the AltMeta.

Now if I can just find time to finish another game before my last one starts depreciating...

What did those horrible MVC people do to me? I'm a lapsed anarchist, fer gods' sakes. We should be circling the walkers to bring down the Metaverse until they make all the fonts really big.

I was playing WoW and teamed up with some guy i didnt know when all the sudden he had to leave the game because, as he said it, "mom´s getting that look again". At that time I felt really old in the gamingworld...

He could have been referring to his "significant other".

I know some guys that still refer to their wives as "Ma", not me though... hehe, (looking over shoulder).
I occasionally get the twin laser beams of death from the wife if I ignore her for too long when engaging in my hobbies (read: gaming).

If you are asking why there are a lot of us, as opposed to why people don't think that thre are. Then my theory is just that we started gaming, it was people around our age that first played video games.

We saw the evolution of consoles as well as the rise and fall of arcades. Personally I just don't see a reason to not want to play a game and I think a lot of "older" gamers feel the same way. Maybe more would too if real life didn't cost so much time.

I don't think its nastalgia so much since the games we play are newer. Of course I get the urge to get my old Atari 2600 going again for a game of Yar's Revenge, but I wouldn't have the time.
