Beta 2 and how is the game?

Hey, you should take a look at the gameplay videos
It kinda shows it all, well all we got at this stage

Beta2 will arrive within next month, but the date is unknown.

But the game is really fun to play, and i guess it will just get better, the closer we get to release

Overall the game is great, the RTS side is coming together nicely.

The Diplomacy side is weak right now.

Just so you know there isn't a lot of stuff that is in beta as of yet.

What is in the Beta 2?

But it should be about how easy it is to play and stuff like that.

No, actually beta 2 will add in a substantial amount of new gameplay elements that weren't in beta 1 (which was mainly to test the engine).

I think there are some issues with both sides of hte game as of now. the RTS seems a bit too simple, unit type and microing have little effect, and the 4x seems to shallow at this point.
supposedly and hopefully this will easily be fixed by (as Yarlen hinted) "substantial amount of new gameplay elements".

so when can we expect beta 2 and when can i start playing the beta?

I guess by that you havent pre-ordered?

if you pre-order you will need to wait for beta2 to be released within next month, but if you buy tokens, you can get the game right away

If you preorder you get access at the beginning of the next phase, which is beta 2 right now. When beta 2 is released there will be an announcement, and if it goes the same way as beta 1, a window of a week or so after the release during which you can still preorder and get into that phase.

Alternately, if you preorder via TotalGaming.net using TGN tokens, you get access immediately to beta 1 and all betas thereafter without needing to wait for the next phase.

So in this substantial update... new race? More TEC?

edit: And will the date of the release be June 1st? or more towards the middle of the month?

It's a substantial update since many of the gameplay elements will be present. It will continue to be TEC only, however.

Will their be new TEC ships? Or skins?

I believe all TEC ships will be getting more windows, and all will be supplied with 2 ply toilet tissue , along with better creature comforts for them long trips between stars... Countdown to beta 2 , woooooooo!

There is also a new trade ship skin being worked on... the trade ships will now be bigger as I recall and have more engines (6 now?)

dont let kosc near the triple-fold steel, sealed, 24" bulletproof glass portals. he tends to fall out of them (and violate the vacum-seal on the ship in the process)

I suppose that kryo and multianna know what they are talking about so ... I guess membership with totalgaming.net and using tokens is the way to get into the beta now (I also want to try flatspace), but the verbage on the pre-order page at totalgaming.net could be confusing to simple-minded folks, such as myself.

well, I just went to bed at 5 in the morning after downloading beta1 from my Totalgaming account, so you can trust the nice Stardock people on this one.

oh is IronClad still accepting beta testers? thought beta applications for SoSE closed?
