A couple of modding questions.. well allot of modding questions ;)

1st What modeling program did you use to create the ships of Sins? I'm a 3dsmax user myself, but i am just curious as to what the dev's weapon of choice is.

Will there be a .Mesh importer released with the mod tools? and is there any program out now that i can view the .mesh files with?

Where are the map/universe files located? I cant seem to find them in the gamedata folder, or anywhere for that matter. I want to see if i can mod out the phase lanes for my own personal experimentation. I just want to test it out myself, and if i break the beta its my own stupid fault (thats what they make backups for ).

Will there be animations in the final game?

The reason why im asking is some may know me from my SFC, Nexus, and Homeworld community nickname which is The Stress Puppy, and YES i do intend to mod this game

there arent any map files because they are all generated randomly at the start of the game...as for the other questions....they arent really disclosing any info on what they use......silentshade has been bugging them on IRC with no success in that regard

Yea, Laww is right. I've been sittin in IRC doin a lot of Troll logging and they've yet to really answer some of the questions, which is purposeful do to the fact that I believe a lot more is temp hard-coded than they really want hard coded so that they can test compatibility and stability, etc... which makes sense.

By the looks of it they might have used Maya, though I doubt it, 3dstudio max is a good guess on it, I know almost everyone uses it. My main guess would be to take a look at the file structure so far though, they seem to have all pretty self-explanatory once you look at it, so when the full thing comes out we'll be able to get our hands dirty.

Also, FOR ALL MODDERS, try to get little groups together to work with you, I know we all love our own names on projects, but collaborative effort can produce some really amazing things, especially in a more "complex" game like this. I am looking forward to working with some of you, even if it means me just playing around with yer mods tryin to break them .

So yea, it'll be fun! And migrate yer arse over to the modding section.
