Human or not?

Me and my friend have been having this debate on whether or not the Advent are human (or whatever race the TEC are). I say they are and they just don't have pupils but he says they aren't. Any answers?

They are humans that were outcast, and while away for thousands of years learned a new ability... Or so I am guessing...

The TEC are humans, and so are the Advent. It was in an interview some time ago. I think the one with 1up.com

the advent were always human, and they never "learned" or "evolved" their capacity, they created it through drugs and technology.
