Why Games are Important...

So people don't go insane...

In a somewhat related article by Mr. Beebles @ deathbybeebles.joeuser.com gives a nice little inquiry on games and the effect on the human mind. This article though is here to explain some good points of games including video, group RPG, board, etc.

1.Entertainment-Sometimes there is just nothing to do and games are a nice little pastime and also a social event if you are playing RPGs or board games. You can have so much fun with others while playing (such as in our gaming club meetings).

2.Stress Relief-When you're stressed, games are a good way to rid yourself of anger with much violence and death. It's better than killing real people. It also provides a window of unreality where you can escape your problems...kind of like drugs but without brain damage.

3. Education-*gasp* Education in games?!!?!? Yes...most certainly...some games have learning premises behind them such as Magic: The Gathering, Age of Mythology, and usually any other strategy games or history based games. Even children can learn from the Hooked on Phonics games...even thought they appear to be a little dull...

So there are three perfectly good reasons to play games....They do not rot the mind...in fact they enrich it...(Well...not ALL games, but most are good)

So until a later date when I find/think of something to write,

I love video games. Maybe not the kind you do. I like to play Crash Banidcoot, Spyro, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Sims things like that. I'm so obsessed with my ps2. lol. But i haven't played it lately.

Those are SO true. The first one is, obviously, but the other two definitely are. I've learned more about WWII from Battlefield 1942 than from any history class...and the Japanese at Wake Island were major spawn campers

True about the stress relief too, nothing like busting up some undead monsters or Allies/Axis (whichever team you aren't on) to get your mind off things.

Did you know that there is a new study out about how awesomely good video gamers get at stuff like hand eye cooridination and perefrial vision. I know I just totally destroyed those words, but I tried not to mess them up too much. I'll go look it up and give you a little update, if I find anything.

Yes, Crash is like one of my favorite games! I play it all the time, but if i want to beat the one I have i gotta play it all in one day because it's a ps1 game and I don't have a ps1 memory card, so that kinda sucks. So what are yalls into game wise? just wondering!
