Oh I have had it for about 2 weeks.

The intial euphoria of getting it, playing it, and staring at all the shiny new features and graphics wore off in about 3 days. Then I was set with the reality I didnt quite like and was kind of disappointed at. I dont want to make an official review yet cause I havent put in enough time to really learn everything yet and try every aspect. So for now I say that the game is shiny and fun to play early game it bogs down near the end and middle with even the smallest nation in the galaxy able to pose an obsticle. And its not too difficult to get a planet, but it takes A LOT of time. So the game winds up being slow and slugish with me moving around fleets of large size to confront this planet here or that pirate threat there. It winds up being sorta boring, like playing an RPG game where all you do is level up and level up. However I think they are still shielding features away and the other races arent present so there isnt a huge differnace in gameplay that makes a good RTS.

And I have also relised why so many people didnt want the phase lanes, still against getting rid of them though.

Nice little review, but it explains alot and its exactly how i feel, specialy in the mid and late game.
But as we know they are holding back more then 2/3 of the content, it will properly be better in later betas.

Well they said most of the things for TEC is implemented, but they are taking sugestions so thing may change.

Gona try and put in a few more hours this week and maybe get arround to writing something eventually.

I'd like to download the videos but the bandwidth from the site is forcing a download to take an hour. Has anyone mirrored these files for quicker access?

I did look at #1 on gametrailers but you are right they are low res.

The game looks interesting and I'm thinking of pre-ordering in time for beta 3, but I have some questions that I think the videos will answer...

I'll chug along with video 1 for now.

The idea was for them to be streamable, but as my host have changed ISP they got into problems with the speed. So downloading them now is the only option. My host is still looking into the problem and i hope they fix it soon

The files can be downloaded with about 100kb/s each. So depending on your connection you can have them all down in an hour

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not really complaining, I'm happy to have these available. I have tried from home and work (where bandwidth is no issue) and the pull degrades to less than 50KB/sec. I'm assuming there are many others who are downloading too and that could be the bottleneck.

I'll keep them running in the background while working so I can have something fun to view tonight.
