Competition

I am sure that some of you on this forum have heard of Supreme Commander. They say that it will be a game of epic scale and proportion, just like this one and that it will be the RTS of 2007. Now, to me this game looks a lot more drawn out and interesting, plus the story line sounds a lot more appealing yet less detailed. Plus im a big space RTS fan so i automatically feel that his game will potentially be more fun to play. But Sup Com seens to be more popular and well know at this point, it already had a large fan base from TA and it has by far grown through Gas Powered Games production of other titles. So how do you feel about the competition Sup Com might give Sins of a Solar Empire.

I feel that they are honing down on different targets

besides, someone willing to buy one is going to buy the other (ala me)
its really not going to be an issue, they are sufficiently different enough to have people buy both

Yea I think that supcom is making people open their eyes about RTS being actually to do with strategy then just Micro and tactic. I can see people wanting to explore space rts that strive to have massive zooms and epic maps.

I've always though of 3D RTS and regular RTS (command and conquer) to be in a different catagory.

I just worry about the fact that Sup Com is putting out a lot more advertising than Sins is.

Sup Com is also supposedly releasing in March, which means they effectively have 3 months left of dev time.  The marketing machine has to really start spinning up now.

As we near release, we'll be spinning up our marketing efforts as well.  Don't worry, this won't be some game no one ends up hearing about

I agree with ninja. I think they're completely different targets. I think SupCom will be absolutely cool. I haven't heard of any plans for the scale to extend beyond the boundary of a single planet just yet though. Remember Interlocking Game System (Rules of Engagement)? We could zoom out from SupCom and fall into SoASE. For the truly perverse integration engineers among us.

Xfire can take care of that

are you an Xfire spokesperson or something...
no offense meant, its just that you've mentioned it a ton.

heh, getting a little ahead of ourselves there, arent we.
although a truly comprehensive game like that would be pretty damn nice.

Well hopefully the news will spread i would hate for this game to be dead online, since the i really want a high end strategy game that also has good online play with good online players and a good number of them.

I watched all the tutorials and the eye candy seems to be lacking in quality and personality, not sure the gameplay is all that either.Overhyped I feel.

Sins will be better.
