I only recentley heard about thisa game, it looks excellent.

I was just wondering when will it be released in Australia and what (approximately) will it cost?

I emailed the Stardock sales dept with just this question. I am yet to see a response, Electronic Boutique doesn't even have it on their comps yet...if all else fails we'll just have to get it online.

Its probably going to be easiest to buy it directly from Stardock and do the download thing...

My question would be will we get it on the 26th here, or the 27th here :notsure:

Hi guys, good to see some aussies here.
I also mailed the [email protected] but got no response...probably getting geared up for release :)

No probs tho, I saw in the UK Release date thread that they will have more release dates in a day or so, so maybe Aus will also be in there.

In regards to downloading it, it would be nice but on 56Kb I have my doubts. Anyone know if the prices at stardock are U.S dollars? With shipping that would make it >100!!!!

Anyway all out questions will no doubt be answered soon.

Cheers guys!

Hi Peldorian,

Yip, it US dollars (:( So the game is no more expensive or cheap than any other game downunder.

Pity we couldn't orginise for one of us with DSL and a CD burner to help out those who only 56K or slower modems. Oh well, the offical CDs will arrive eventually.

Same question regarding France : no publisher ever announced it here, but I was told that French betatesters will make a localization ...
Would we all have to order it in the US via the Web ?
No problem for me, I have DSL, but in France not many people do and not much can/want either pay in US $ or on the Web...
Having it in stores would multiply sales tenfold at least (but it also costs to the game publishers...).
So ?
:notsure:

Strategy First needs to push this game a lot harder than they have. It seems many people have only heard about it through the MOO3 forums, myself included.

If they do the distribution and promotion right this game could be as big as what MOO3 was supposed to be. Yeah it does take money, but it would be a real shame for MOO3's sales to dwarf that of GalCivs.

The masses deserve this game after what they've been through recently. Perhaps if we all start emailing EB they might stock it in Australia and other places.

I thought everything was slower in WA :P Sorry couldn't resist the mandatory State V State stab :)

Yes will have to buy it from Stardock I think, unless a local distrib comes along, and see if work will allow me to use there HUGE pipe on the weekend :)

Good to see the aussies here, maybe we can get a group of us together in the Metaverse

But would that mean we'd have to drag New Zealand along too? Oh alright :notsure:

btw, my above post should have read "it would be a real shame for GalCiv's sales to dwarf that of MOO3's" not the other way around :)

@56kbit gonna take about a week to download ... may be better wait for the CD...??? no pre-order from local store ... can't buy the game yet ... have to wait and see what happen.

Good news everyone...well everyone is Sydney at the very least. GalCiv will be availble in EB stores. They don't have a date as yet...it is a "niche" game as in not one of the biggies, but it is being carried out here by Red Ant. So my friends if you wish to wait for CD's then patience is the key.

The metaverse is a big place...and exactly what is wrong with my native land; Instigation >:( [just kidding about the frown] :D

That's very good news Arokh, hopefully that means it will be in Melbourne also. If EB stores in other places in Oz (and NZ ;)) don't have it I'm sure it won't be a hassle to order it.

Instigation, I think we should agree to disagree ;p

And yes, great news about EB stores.

True Wydomaker, I don't think that age old debate will be resolved here.

hmm my original post "it would be a real shame for MOO3's sales to dwarf that of GalCiv's" was infact correct. Now will somebody please tell me where I left my brain . . .

Hmm. Work pipe. CD burner. My work is on the Australian National University campus. What a nice idea ... :D

But I've just been grumbled at for using bandwidth as it is, so I will probably be good and order the game through EB. (Rumour has it that the more pre-orders a game gets, the more of it the games companies put on their shelves ...) (And I don't know what my network admin is on; back of the envelope calculations show that my home network (ADSL) downloads ten times as much, and we *don't* do filesharing or anything like that.)

Just did a currency convert for direct purchase. If we buy it from the US it'll cost about $93 incl shipping...which works out about the same as buying it instore anyway.

another aussie here...didnt know there were so many.
yep found this site after MOO3 debacle.
I asked PC market in sydney to see if they would sell it here but they have said it is not scheduled for an Aust. release.
I have 56k but my friend has Cable, can i use his comp to dl? what about liscense issues??
Hope this game is good though...they said the same about MOO3!!
"Birth of a Federation" still rocks!!

So many from OZ? This Washingtonian wonders if you folks see the stars more clearly down under and therefor have a greater interest in 4x space exploration.

I asked at the Penrith EB (west of Sydney) and they didn't have it listed, nor did the Games Wizards. GW guy said to try again in a couple of MONTHS! :(

Heres a thought for Stardock;

Direct distribution to Australian stores.

I'll reiterate what I found out I rang EB Chastwood (north of Sydney in rich area) and found out that Red Ant is going to pick up the distribution, but since it isn't a manistream game it'll be many many a month before we see it in store. BTW Red Ant is also in Chatswood.

I just hope we don't need a credit card to purchase online since I don't have one.
