Free Hugs!

Thanks for sharing this I cried happy tears when he got his first hug. And yes I would have signed the petition too. There's not enough love expressed in the world. I wish I'd been there too

Woo hoo, I'm so glad to see this here. I was going to do something about it but I thought I'd check first. The most gratifying thing about this, besides Juan Mann's story, is that the music is by a band I know well. The Sick Puppies are a fantastic young Sydney band who have been trying for some time to get a break. This video is going to do it for them.

It is always good to see people one knows achieving the success they deserve.

I have to admit the first I heard about it was on the Aussie edition of 60 Minutes. Toni and I were blown away when we heard it was The Sick Puppies. We've been saying for ages they deserve much better success than what they've had. We immediately went to YouTube and checked it out. The original post has over 3 million hits so far.

More detail... The petition was started because Juan's Free Hugs didn't have public liability insurance. Because the 'nature of his service' could inadvertently lead to someone being injured, the City of Sydney Council, in their infinite wisdom, decided he needed to have insurance to cover up to $27 Million Australian, just in case.

The petition stopped this ridiculous action by the City of Sydney Council and Juan is still walking the streets of my beautiful hometown, offering free hugs to anyone who wants them.
