First I would like to say hello to everyone!
I haven't done anything much for the HCH, since I joined (I joined mainly because of the email I got inviting me) but I have decided to get more involved now, so I will start to post my games on the Metaverse again, instead of playing my sand-box all the time.

Yea... I have just recently got back into the swing things, been kinda hectic over here in Iraq. How man empires are you in anyways neilo? And does anybody still play in this empire or is it a lost cause?

I am in two empires. My first and the one my main character is with is the HCH, i also have my own empire, the Tyranny of Evil, of which both of my other two characters are members of.

I am quite proud of both empires, my own which has come from nothing to 11th in 2 months and the HCH which went up so fast that we swept all in our path.

It is a shame to see the HCH in the state it is in now, i have 1 game going for my HCH character but if this empire remains the shadow of what it once was i may feel the need to move on to a more lively abode.

Is it a lost cause? I don't know, i have not seen much activity in here for a long time and have not seen our emperor for even longer. As to if Alex is active or not, i don't know but the heyday of the HCH may well be behind us.......

How the mighty have fallen silent. About the same thing that happened to the Orcas a while back, I think. Just posted my 50th game as The Corinthian, my HCH character. I won't be withdrawing him from the HCH, but I am planning to put him on sabbatical now while I rack up some scores for the Tyranny. I'll be watching.

I on the other did feel it was time to withdraw the Centurion and move on. I am now concentrating my efforts on the Tyranny of Evil. I am proud of what we achieved here in the HCH but i need to be in an active empire. If the day comes that this empire and thread come alive again, i will surely be around.

It's up to us - easy for me to say, I have been inactive since May or so. Let's see if we can get the HCH going again. I am wanting to start working on my games again and would really like it to continue be through the HCH.

Perhaps we can get some conversation going again and get the excitement flowing!

Dead and buried.

Kinda sad really. I remember when Alex started the HCH and brought it up to be one of the most powerful empires. If the HCH is truly dead, The Meta has lost a great empire.

Whoa, that can't be right, can it? The HCH is enormous!

I think they are as dead as it gets - I joined with á 100k character recently, which made them #1 for a day or so, I said hello nicely - and there was no one there who even noticed:

I mean there are inactive charceters still and a few active ones (Ferrel), and they still show prominently on the altmeta, but I guess the more games you have the less MV impact you have. Sad, anyway...

Hey thebutterfly. Ya, I'm still submitting but once I get to 50 games submitted I will retire that character. I've started a new one for the MVL and will probably join that empire.

It is almost certain that they will remain prominent. However, they will definetly lose their place amognst the top that is for sure. Unless of course there is a revival in communication.

Congrats Ferrel! It has become very quiet in the HCH.   I am still trying to submit games - but none as high as yours! Perhaps things will pick up soon. I think we have the members who can get us going again.

Hello fellow members of the HCH. I don't know if anyone remembers me after so much time. I joined the empire a long time ago, around October last year. We were a young but aspiring Empire back then. I remember we weren't even on the top 10, i think we weren't even on the top 25 at that time. When I joined I tried to be as active as possible but I never achieved big scores so I helped as I could. I was even involved in trying to make an alternative website for the empire (that project never came to be as I found myself with less and less time to play GC2 and be an active member of the Empire).
I sort of quited playing GC2 around the time Dark Avatar came out. I was really busy writing final exams and never bought the game.
Time passed and I would log in to see how the Empire was doing. That came to an end around June this year.
As you can see I have been very inactive.
Today I was wondering what has been of the empire. What I saw made me both happy and sad. We had been Empire number one and are now number two. We have come a long way since last year. But I really regret what has happened on the way. A lot of members are not active, the Emperor has disappeared. Posts in the Website and in the forums have dried up.
I would really like to make this empire great again. I am right now in a difficult time (final exams again and one that can be particularly dangerous if things don't go well) but I will try to post one or two games. Starting next year things will be different for me and I'll play more and more.
I want to know if there are still active members that want this Empire to be reborn.
If there is anyone out there I make a call to you.
Post here. I have a dream and we need a plan. We need to be the best Empire again. It's not only about being number one, it's about what the Empire represents. This Empire was unique in it's democratic ways. This Empire grew from the strength of it's members, both the ones with thousands of points and the ones that had just a couple.
If there are still members out there that care and want to try again, please post here or pm me. It might come to nothing, but we have to try.

Many of us have moved on, and taken our HCH characters to more active pastures. I do hope to see the HCH live but i am now focused on my own empire.

Hi Kudelv - it is good to hear from another HCH member  . Yes things have gone quiet. I am still interested in participating in the HCH. I am working on a game for the 4th round of the MVL. Like many, I don't score megascores - I still am working at normal level. It would be nice to see our empire pick up again, like youy said - there is strength in numbers. Let me know how I can help your "dream" and what we can do in the way of a plan!

The HCH will go down in the "Chronicles of the Metaverse" as an incredible psychology experiment.

From my perspective, a new and starry eyed player, Alex Atticus, had the gumption to start a new Empire with almost no experience in the game or the Metaverse universe. What he had was pluck, a "go getters" attitude, and the willingness to ask anyone and everyone to join up. He was polite and enthusiastic and most importantly, persistent.

People new to an experience, in this case GalCivII and the metaverse, are often hesitant to ask someone if they can join their empire. Alex overcame this hesitation by asking them to join instead. Join up they did, in incredible numbers. This led to a consistent and upward trend from the beginning. While many of the players were inexperienced (myself included) and posted "marginal" scores, there were so many of us, that we lifted the HCH up from the bottom, while other empires were focused on being pulled up from the top by the small pool of top level players. The results were what you would expect, quantity overcame quality - for a time.

The problem the HCH faced can be traced back to another Alex that conquered everything before him, Alexander the Great. While he lived and lead, his Macedonians conquered every enemy they faced. After his passing, Alexanders empire splintered and faded into the pages of history. Alex Atticus is dead as the leader of the HCH, the splintering to other empires has long begun and the future of the HCH will slowly dwindle because the leader of the empire is no more.

The more established Galactic Diplomats look certain to hold their position until another leader emerges to excite the masses of new and unaffiliated players. The chance is available to whoever wants it. Who will rise up and seize it?

You know gentleman the HCH is not entirely dead. There are at least 3 former active members of the HCH in the Tyranny of Evil. Plus we have ourselves a diplomat or two as well. The Tyranny could well lift itself up and challenge the establishment if only there were a few brave souls willing to join the fight.

Fighting to regain the the HCH's top spot and former glory is an honorable thing, but leaving to aid the fight of another great empire of which is of the same mold as the HCH, is no less honorable a feat.

Will any of you warriors see the logic in aiding us, The Tyranny of Evil, to gain the lofty heights that the HCH once held.

To gain and hold position amongst the great empires is the best way to pay tribute to the HCH. We cant do it alone gentleman, but with more help from our fellow brethren the Tyranny of Evil might just be able to honor the HCH in a way none of us could. By taking and holding that number 1 position, all for the glory of the HCH!!!
