Notice: Pending mods now under review!

Mavx and myself have finally been granted library control access, so the backlog of pending mods will now be processed through as we can get to them. It seems some people have complained about not getting any notice about rejections, so just to be safe I'll try to post the mods here that get approved/rejected.

For the record, about the only things that *should* get rejected are obscene or blatant copyright/IP infringement (i.e., photgraphs of actors, soundtracks, video clips, etc.). If it is anything you created yourself or got from public domain/open source sources, it should be fine.

Also, please do not include unchanged graphics, etc, that are arleady in GC2 in your mods (such is just extra downloading for nothing, and potentially makes GC2 content available to those who have not bought the game). In most cases you can simply reference the existing files and it'll work the same.

To make things easier on both of us i suggest posting the name of the mod we are testing first and then editing the post later to say whether or not it has been approved/rejected. That will stop us from testing the same mod twice.

To extend on DK's post above, we will be rejecting instantly any mods (ie logo's & portraits) that obviously have copyrighted materials in them. To facilitate us in our job please add the link you got the image from if it was from a public domain source. If you can prove its not a breach of copyright we will allow the mod!

Far be it from me to complain, given that I love the mod and am currently playing it, but how does one reconcile the approved B5 mod with the "No CopyVio" policy?

Well seen as how my moderation powers have now been stripped as the people at Stardock did not like my post i guess its down to you DK.
Its a pity it had to come down to the post but seen as no one was responding to *off line* requests for fixes i felt something had to be done. if the loss of my moderating abilities is the result of getting the issues fixed then i have served my purpose here.

Enjoy the new fixed site!

I was wondering the same thing myself. (in response to Ray Radlein's post)

How can we tell if something we find browsing the internet is public domain or not?

To my knowledge, the B5 models were either user created or obtained from user mod projects for other games. They were not, for example, stolen from the makers of B5 directly.

To save the moderators some trouble, please test your mods to make sure that they work before submitting them to the library.  Also, if your ships or other models are high poly, you may want to include a warning about that in your description.

It appears DG approved TechTree+, Ship Configuration Mod, and the MOO Race pack before he was demoted.

Seven unreviewd mods remain, I'm looking them over now.

That should be fine.

It would depend on where exactly you find the images. Most images from news outlets are copyrighted, and the ones on campaign websites might be. you might be able to find some on wikipedia that you can definitely use, as they list there whether the images are copyrighted, public domain, etc.

Macmatt, please remove the logos from the mod that are already included in the game. You should be able to leave the references intact and it'll work just the same since most of those are included in the base game and/or bonus pack. But please do not include reusable game content in your mods.

Let me know once you've updated it (you should be able to go the the My Mods page in the library and see/edit it) and I'll approve it.

Sorry about that, the images have now been removed.

ok I can understand why Stardock doesn't approve of some mods thats fine and all but perhaps someone who knows how to build a webpage with download area could have the unapproved mods there. Then we have the best of both worlds to coin a phrase. Just make it an Unofficial site for downloading. It would be great to have some form of site that has every mod thats been made available by the creators in once spot.

Then we can pick and choose and rate as we like and Stardock is off the hook. I would put up a site for this but alas I'm not really a web wizard.

I am working on creating such a site, starlost.  Stay tuned.
