No Holes, No Stains, No Safety Pins

And NO M&Ms Between the Seat Cushions!

Our couch was delivered today, and I'm so happy with it. It's big and comfy, although I think there will be a lot of fights over the chaise lounge/ottoman. The living room looks more like an actual living room and less like a room that we just threw random stuff into. We'll never be featured in Homes & Gardens, but our living room seems cozier and more put together now. And NO migrating couch covers!!

We hired a local guy to deliver the couch instead of the company that the furniture store on post uses. We bought the couch on Saturday and it's delivered and put together on Monday, so that's great. The other company would have taken nearly a week. This guy also carried off the leather couches and one of our old sofas, so we were able to get all that done today. He charged $80 for everything, which I feel was pretty fair. If we ever need help getting something to the house or having something taken to the dump again, we'll probably use him.

We haven't Scotchgard-ed the couch yet. We've got to test a spot to make sure it won't harm the couch, and then we'll probably Scotchgard it before we go to bed. It's probably not a great color for stains, but I think it will be ok.

Adrian and the boys are sacked out on it right now, playing Naruto on GameCube. So cute.

Here's what our couch looks like:

When the guys get done, I'm going to curl up on it with a blankie and a book!

We really like it ! Love the color. Would have been a even better picture if Adrian and the boys was on it playing games. Love, Dad and Mom

I love fluffy, thick couches. They are so cozy and inviting no matter what the size. Congratulations....you can change diapers on the ottomon part!

Yeah, I'm psyched about it. And the color is nice. I almost took a pic of them, but Adrian didn't have a shirt on, so I decided against it.

So true! We gotta meet up more often!

Thanks! We can all fit on it and stretch out. Perfect! Adrian's already claimed the ottoman, though. That's ok. When he goes to work I'll have it all to myself!

Tex,

Nice couch, good high backs and the chaise bit is great.

This is the sort of couch T and I want to get. We have two three seaters, in good condition but would gladly trade them for one with a chaise lounge attachment. I do fear we'd end up fighting over who gets the chaise bit, though.

Thanks. You know, it was one of the first we looked at. Then last Friday Adrian said we shouldn't just go with the first thing we see, we should look around. So we did. A lot. And this was still our favorite. None of the other various couches we saw came close.

If our reaction to this one is any indication, you guys would love it. I really like the shape of it. It's just almost a half square with the chaise lounge, and it really fills up the living room in a nice way. And hey, you guys can always snuggle together on chaise part!

I really appreciate that. You're such a "home guru" that your comment means a lot! I liked the color when I saw it at the store, but I wasn't completely sure how it would look in the house. I'm actually pretty pleased. Like I said, we won't be featured in Homes & Gardens, but it looks plenty nice to me!!

Yeah, that's the best thing about it I think. Last night we all climbed on and stretched out on it (Ice Age was on TV, haha, I love that movie!), and we fit perfectly.

Goes great in the room.

Thanks! I always question whether things I pick for the house are completely retarded and I'm the only one who thinks they look good, haha. I appreciate the reassurance!

I always question whether things I pick for the house are completely retarded and I'm the only one who thinks they look good,

I heard a "rule" several years ago and have tried to apply it when possible for things that go in my home.

If I don't LOVE it, then I don't buy it, make it, whatever.  Of course if you need a kitchen table and don't have one, accepting one someone wants to get rid of is smart....but I am talking about actual thought out purchases.

Well that rule caused me some problems at first because I might like the legs on a French buffet, but the straight lines of a Amish china cabinet.  Those two "styles" don't exactly go together.

But the weird thing is, if you only get what you love, it all seems to go together.  I was surprised to find after a few years of applying this rule that I could look around and know my style was ___fill in the blank.  Usually a combo of several diff styles.

To test this theory, I recently went to the paint store (without fabric swatches!) to pick color for my DR and BR.  I am drawn to the same colors, again and again.  It's just what I like.  So when I brought home my paint, it matched perfectly with the fabric I love.  And with the rest of the co-ordinating colors in the house.

Getting rid of anything I don't love also keeps down on clutter.  I'm having a huge garage sale this summer, filled with furniture and curtains I no longer "love."  Then I will use that money to buy a piece I do love.  I have my eye on a mini apothecary desk, with French legs.hahahahaha.

OOOOHHHH AAAAAHHHHHHHHH. But like a chinese food buffet, it needs happy family. Let's see some pictures with everyone racked out on it. He can't keep his shirt off all the time.

P.S. Congratulations on being preggers, I haven't been able to keep up as well as I like lately, but I'm still skimming the blogs.
