I don't know if I can get back to it in order to post it here... at least exactly as it was. Maybe I'll check my history pages... too funny.
Ok... couldn't get back to the page (it reloads as is now, not from my cache... grrrrrrr). Basically, I was responding to this quote from Iconoclast's article (
http://iconoclast.joeuser.com/index.asp?AID=88829:
Erwin: "It's according to what your heart is saying. If your heart is humble and you have the lord using a message to send along to America we need to wake up. Your heart will respond in humility saying, "Lord, whatever it takes, begin with me to do what's right.
If your heart is hard, you'll turn away. I can't define what men do, I can only say what God would be honored with."
He actually believes he can read God's mind. |
My point was merely this... we cannot read God's mind. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, His ways higher than ours. We CAN, however, know -- at least in part -- what God would be honored with. He has given us His Word that in many instances spells out what pleases Him, if we'll take the time to open it and read it. I then listed four or five verses of Scripture (I'm sure this is probably what was objected to) which clearly state what is God's will, what pleases Him, and what brings Him honor. There are many more than what I listed, but was just giving a sampling.
My post didn't even really address whether I thought the Senator was correct in his position regarding New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, I simply spoke to the fact that firstly, he didn't say that he could read God's mind... and secondly, that it IS possible to know to some extent what honors God (if you're a person of faith who believes the Bible to be God's Word.) I understand that Icon obviously doesn't... many don't for that matter and I understand that. I couldn't believe it just got deleted, though. LOL.
One of the things I love about JU is that I get to come here and have open discussion with people who are coming from a different perspective than I. We won't always agree -- in fact, we will probably rarely agree -- but I enjoy musing with you all and sharing our beliefs. It's sad that some are just not grown up enough to handle someone who differs from them. Live and learn.
