What Was Your Favorite Costume?

I was just thinking about Halloween since my boys have been talking about what they want to be this year.  My favorite costume, although I had a lot of great ones, had to be the alien costume my mom made in 4th grade.  It had an arm made out of dryer tubing with a rubber glove sewed on the end sticking out of the middle of my back.  People kept shaking the hand on my back   My put crazy braids in my hair, painted extra mouths and eyes on my face and I loved it!

So what was your favorite costume?

I never realized how afraid some people were of clowns until I dressed as one while participating in a Jaycee Haunted House. It had to be the best costumed reactions I have ever got ( made at least 3 women pee on themselves ) ....heeehee

Probably didn't help that I'm 6'5", and over 275.........

Oh, don't go for the prisoner look, I borrowed an orange jumpsuit from the county jail for another Haunted House, ran out to a fast food place afterwards, in costume, and the manager called the police.............that was an eventful evening......

I dont remember most of my costumes.  However when I was in High school, my best friend's father was having a holloween party (he was a General and expected to do that sort of stuff).  My best friend and I put paper bags (with eye holes and drawn on mouth and nose) on our heads, stuffed newspapers up our sleeves and legs and sat out on some lawn chairs.  Acting as dummies of course.  Of all the guests, only one group figured out we were real and not real dummies.  But you should have heard the comments!

In Germany, when I was about 8 I took a sheet, cut holes in it, put peace signs and "Love""Far Out""Sock it To Me" and other slogans on it... then completed the costume with a long haired wig...

I was A Hippy Ghost. ;~D

Does anyone know why almost all German kids dressed up as either Cowboys or Indians? (That was in the early 70s... does anyone know if it still happens?). ;~D

You spent the evening on lawn chairs with paper bags on your heads.  Are you sure you weren't real dummies   Just razzing you.  That sounds like an interesting experiment in human behavior.

I bet that was quite memorable.  My kids absolutely hate clowns and I have no idea why.

No, the party was inside, so we just stayed until all the guest had arrived. However, if I had stayed out there all night, I would say you had an astute observation!

I had a friend that used to do Hollywood make-up

My favorite was a "radiation burn" victim.

super scary and awful to look at.

Hmmm...I was King Tut one year (back in the 70s, when he was fashionable); my mom made the Eygptian costume based on pictures from the bible.+LOL+
I was a robot one year, too. That was cool, but I couldn't see....kept running into things.

We always go to a friend's costume party the weekend before Halloween. Two years ago, I was Homer Simpson. I wore a big Homer mask, white collared t-shirt, nerdy old man jeans and brown shoes. I also covered my arms with yellow greasepaint (it kept smearing and getting on everything. I also had a can of "Duff Beer" (a container for a deck of Simpsons-themed playing cards). Won first prize that year! WhoooHooo!

This year, I'm gonna be Darth Vader "HOOOOOPHoooooooHOOOOOOPHooooooo.............." (Vader breath).
My wife is going probably going to be Princess Leia. The party-throwers usually try to do a "couples" theme; one year we were Sandy and Danny from "Grease", another we were Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd...you get the picture.

I bought one of the whole-head voice changer masks (they said it should fit me okay) and a light saber from Wal-Mart (post-Halloween, they'll make a cool addition to my collection). I'm also going to bring a boom box with me so's I can make a cool entrance to the "Imperial March". "Dum-Dah-Dum-Da-Da-Dum-Da-Da-Dum....."

One year in high school I was inspired by the idea of wearing a square cardboard box painted like a die (you know, dice). I thought it was the cutest thing, but I didn't realize that I was a laughing stock. Between classes, someone offered to carry my books....then she set them on top of my die, throwing me off balance and all my books fell. She walked away and I had to pick everything back up. Jerk girl. I feel like clobbering her now, but I was such a sweet girl back then, it didn't even cross my mind.

I had a bright green square dance dress that I inherited from my cousin. I loved that thing...wasn't really much of a costume though.

Best cosutmes ever: saw 4 guys dress up as a ham sandwhich. 2 were slices of bread, one was a slice of cheese and the other was a slice of ham. The funniest part was when they threw themselves in a pile while letting out war whoops (probably to stave off remarks about the manliness of dresisng like cheese and getting into a dog pile with other men).

Also saw a guy dressed as the house from the Wizard of Oz. He built a house and wore it so it covered him from his head to his waist. Then he would spin around...and suddenly stop and stick wicked witch legs out. It was really hilarious.

There was a kid in my neighborhood who used to go to school on Halloween as a ghost...but with a twist. He'd wear a sheet with eyeholes, but with some other adornments to complete the costume.
For example: one year he wore the sheet and a silver glove. A sign around his neck said :"The ghost of Michael Jackson". Another year, he wore the sheet with sweats with one leg pulled up; sign said "The ghost of LL Cool J."
An "afro" wig on his head and a gun; the ghost of Shaft.
A pompadour and sparkly sunglasses..Elvis. He was a pretty funny kid.

I'm deathly afraid of clowns, and every year around Halloween, we have a huge fair in my town. Well, one year I was in the house of mirrors with a friend, when out of nowhere appear a grim reaper and the SCARIEST clown I've ever seen!! It was covered in blood, and had huge fangs and it started chasing me! I was so freaked that I just put my arms out and started running and before I knew it, I ran right into a mirror and almost broke my arm!!
