Our mice got into it earlier. Bert bit Ernie and drew blood. Ernie was left cowering in the corner.
So, I had to separate them. Ernie is a sweet mouse, always ready to sit in your hand or on your shoulder. Bert is an asshole. He bites and he jumps and he's just not a nice mouse.
So, Ernie got cleaned up and he's back in the wooden house in the cage. I can see him through the little window. He's happier; he got some food and he ate it, and now he's washing his face with his little paws.
Bert got removed from the communal cage, biting all the way. He really doesnt like people much.
Bert is now in a tote with some holes drilled in the lid, and he's in the shed. He has food, he has water, he has bedding, and he has his cardboard chunk of swiss cheese that he likes to hide in. He's going to have to stay there until tomorrow when I can get another cage to house him in. I can't keep him in the house tonight - in the rare event that he got out somehow, the cat would kill him. Or the dog, he likes mice but he's pretty clumsy. He's better off in the shed.
My youngest is just distraught at Bert having to sleep in the shed. I keep telling him that Bert will be fine in there for one night, that there's no cats in there to get him and that if he does get out he's got nowhere to go so we'll be able to find him easy enough...but he's still tearful.
Poor Ernie. I hope he's okay. I hope too that Bert doesn't escape.....
