How my garden grows

Things are blooming around here.  The wet weather a few weeks ago and now the warm sunshine has put my roses into a growth spurt and now I have buds all over the place!

This is the yellow rose I posted a pic of last week..as you can see that one bud is in full bloom now and there's another bud that's fixing to open:

 

I can't recall the name of that particular rose...

This one is called 'Mr Lincoln' and it's going to be a deep red color...as you can see, it'll be in bloom in about a week:

 

This pink one is called 'Gene Boerner' and it's working on numerous flowers:

 

 Here's my fuschia in all it's blossoming glory:

And finally, my weiner dog who 'helped' me in the yard (and who got all muddy and had to take a bath afterwards):

 

Yes, I'm proud of my garden.  I worked hard to get it looking halfway decent, so I'm excited to show it off!

Hmm....do you mean types as in floribunda or tea roses?  Or do you mean different colors?

If it's types, I have mainly tea's.  Colors/breeds....let me see...I have the Mr Lincoln (Red), Gene Boerner (Pink), Tuscan Sun (Coral), Memorial Day (Pink), Kingdom Of Heaven (peach), Peace (yellow with a pink tinge), Tigress (Purple and white variegated petals), About Face (coral on the outside, peach on the inside of the petals) and Yellow Gold (which, as it's name suggests, is a yellow gold color). 

I also have a couple that I don't know the name of because I took cuttings from someone else's rose and rooted them, and those are varying shades of red.

I've been looking for a white rose...I think that I like the John F Kennedy best.  It's a tea rose, I believe, and it has these gorgeous creamy white flowers.

The smell in my yard once all these beauties come into flower is going to be beautiful....

OOooooooh! Beautiful!!! I wish i had a garden of my own, i'd be in there for hours!! Love the fushia and the doggie (so cute!!)

Well, since my knowledge is in colors (I love them, I just dont know squat about them), I would say you covered the spectrum!  Gives me an idea tho.

How many of them do well in shady areas?

My wife is on a garden kick, and I am going to cut out part of the yard for roses.  But I need shady ones as I have more trees than you have roses!

Thanks for sharing!  I can see that your yard is going to be scent and eye candy heaven!

You really should do something about all of those thorny weeds. They block the view of the garden.

Aww, TY!  I like to sit out there and read (and play, as you saw).  Yeah, Henry's a cutie....that's whay he gets away with doing things like digging a hole in the lawn. Grrr...

I can't think of any rose that does well in a totally shaded area.  If you're getting some sunlight, ie 4 hours a day, then I have a few ideas...but all roses need a minimum of 4 - 6 hours sunlight a day in order to be productive (bloom, in other words)

Yes, but they do a good job of keeping the squirrels and other people's cats out of the dirt.

Oh goodness...what a beautiful garden you have.

I miss my fuschia. I absolutely LOVE that plant. The flowers are just so unique and colorful....

I'm jealous...I can't make anything live. lol

Let me check out the yard this weekend.  4 hours is possible, but I would say 6 is stretching it.  I love trees (and that is the reason I bought the house in the first place), so I really dont want to cut any down.

I love trees (and that is the reason I bought the house in the first place), so I really dont want to cut any down.

I have a big tree in my front yard, so some of my roses get dappled sunlight during the day where the leaves filter it...and they're doing fine.  I have noticed, though, that the ones who are doing better (more buds) are the ones who have access to direct sunlight for longer. They can grow and produce in semi-shaded areas, though....so there's hope!
