Hi,
I've played a couple of games with 4.0 now and firstly was wondering whether the change in scoring is a feature or a bug? Rather than the miserly winning scores in 2 or 3 figures I'm now getting a couple of million. It's fine to have some larger numbers as such but makes comparison with previous games impossible so please can we return to the small rewards of the past?
I gather that resources have been made more generously available but are the AI also getting big bonuses (on Genius which I normally play). I've been able to buy 1/4 of huge quantities at times. - more than 1000 maybe even 1500 and doing the arithmetic I simply don't see how they can accrue that much in 180 turns or so without huge numbers of mining starbases which they patently don't have.
The two bugs are both with regard to counting.
After you upgrade a mining base eg by adding a mining barracks the displayed quantities don't seem to be updating until you leave that screen and return.
Much more importantly at the end of game which I've just finished I was able to queue cities in planets without either the displayed quantity or presumably the game's count immediately being changed. This meant that I could queue them in several planets and end up with a deficit in food rather than having to stop adding as soon as the store went below 4.
I guess it's conceivable that this is because I had too many planets (much the most I've ever had >180 before I finally cashed in a technology win). But in any case it's a somewhat broken mechanism.
Have other people experienced these and any thoughts please?
Cheers,
Jon
