How do I use the passport ?

Just started my first campaign as Martin(?) the General. I've been to the district tower thingy to get a passport and also defeated the local bandits to obtain supplies to craft some more, in fact I now have a total of five! However I still can't get through the gate to the next section of the map, I don't seem to be able to equip any of my units with a passport or use them in any way , they just sit in the quest item section. Is there something I'm missing or need to do differently?

Any help much appreciated.

I don't know how to help other than state what I did. After visiting the section HQ I was able to move my units onto the gate which brought up one of those screens were you select what action to take or what question to ask. I only made 1 passport and all of my units have been able to move through the gate.

You might have found a bug. Good luck.
