The 1v1 maps, Deneb and Kralon, have different adjacent territory layouts from each of the two players spawns. I'm sure other maps do as well, but 1v1 in particular is the competitive mode for RTS, so there should be a set of 1v1 maps that are completely symmetrical and balanced in every aspect. Having non symmetrical maps isn't inherently an issue, but non symmetrical starting positions is definitely a problem. Not only is it unfair for one of the players, it also means each spawn requires it's own separate build order which skews competitive play and is daunting for newer players to wrap their heads around. The differences seem to be subjective of which one is actually better, but subjective balance is bad balance. At least in 1v1.
I would suggest realigning and modifying the starting 2-3 resource nodes next each players spawn so those maps are balanced and consistent.
In Kralon, the blue player has 3 nodes connected to the HQ, though they are further away from the base than the two of red Red.

In Deneb, Blue spawns next to a Metal and a Turinium Node. Where as Red spawns next to a Radioactives and a Turinium Node.
