Hey,
I`ve been REALLY interested in this game for a long time but still have not come around to buying and trying it out. The price is a bit too high, but even more importantly, I am concerned about multiplayer.
This might be the curse on RTSs for me, but while games like Starcraft are very popular and have a steaming community of players, which, by the sheer number of players, is able to create competitive ranks and stuff like that, and this is the kind of thing I look for in RTSs... they are fun and all but only when you play against someone, and having some form of measures about how good (or bad) you are is the main issue for me.
I understand that this game is still early access and with its different approach it hardly will ever come close to Starcraft levels of popularity (not meant to be rude, just realistic haha, nothing to do with the game itself but you get it, blizzard in the name, known franchise, proven mechanics, etc etc...) but to get this game and be stuck playing single player, or just random, "meaningless" skirmishes against a couple other players is definitely a deal breaker for me.
So I don`t really know what I want to ask here... haha, but are there plans (or already implemented) for stuff in regards to multiplayer? Rankings, badges, etc etc etc... stuff to show off, leagues, etc? And I see that Beta 5 change log is very recent so I suppose the devs are working on it which is great, but do you have, idk, some sort of plans in regards to popularity reach of the game and how problematic it can be for RTS games to NOT have enough players playing it... maybe lower game price, or some sort of freemium model where more people can access the game since its free...? Are you concerned about this issue at all? (I mean, obviously you are concerned with the popularity of the game, as it translates directly into money for you guys which is great, but I think lots of RTS fans look for this competitive scenario and can be turned down on the game just by knowing its not "widespread"?)
Anyway, thanks for the attention, and from the looks of it I can say nice work doing something different and interesting, Im a game dev myself and I definitely can appreciate when someone comes up with something cool like this.
Cya!
