Well, as some of you may know, color blindness is a genetic condition in which the person has difficulty discerning colors. Roughly 10% of male population is color blind and 1% of female population. Amongst color blinds roughly 80% are deuteranope (green) and protanope (red). And it basically means they cannot distinguish some colors, the "rest" is a blue type color blindness that's extremelly rare (just do the maths). For those that don't know, it's not like not knowing the name of a color or not being able to identify it, it's seeing two different colors as completely the same (just google color blindess and a lot of information comes up).
So, now that I´ve introduced the subject, what does this have to do with Sorcerer King or anything? Well, as stated (I won't cite bibliography since this is not an essay, but a very long forum post) roughly 10% of male population is colorblind. Since it is genetic, it affects everyone without distinction (actually the ethnicity has some influence, but it's marginal), this means that approximately 10% of visitors to this forum, subscribers, players of Sorcerer King are color blind, well, actually I'd say more than 10%, since I believe (only a personal belief, no data here) the majority of visitors and players are male. So, that means a considerable amount of players are color blind, even though they might not know (it's pretty common for color blinds to not actually know they are color blind). For those of you curious, there's a pretty nice and quick test at "http://enchroma.com/test/instructions/", it shouldn't take more than a few minutes and has a lot of information on color blindness as well .
Now, what's the impact? Well, some games just get virtually unplayable. This is not the case for Sorcerer King, but it greatly affects the playability. How? Well, imagine not being able to distinguish some colors (I get it, it's VERY hard to imagine it. But a good analogy of that is if I ask you to just imagine a new color. It's not that easy is it?). The consequences vary. For example, I'm deuteranope (this is actually true, I'm the example, and not an hypothetical one), the most common type of color blindness, and pretty much can't distinguish the ZOC in Sorcerer King. Actually I didn't even know the border was displayed on the game, I didn't know there was a visual indication of your borders, since I plain can't see it. It´s not like it was just hard to distinguish, I didn´t see it there, and pretty much any other type of color coding that involves the shades of green-red are sometimes completely indistinguishable or just VERY hard to do so. If I have not stressed enough, by indistinguishable I mean COMPLETELY indistinguishable, it´s like asking someone to distinguish between two completely identical colors, they cannot, just like the two red words, I bet you see the words in identical colors, but what if I tell you they aren't the same color? Well, you might believe me, they might not be the same color to the rest of the world, or the non colorblind, but in the color blinds vision, it IS the exact same color. And in this example those two words actually are the exact same shade of red, it was just another attempt at showing how it works.
So, what I´m asking, obviously for my sake (but it might also help a pretty significant portion of players), is a color blindness mode. A color blindness option on the menu that changes the color scheme of the game or just some other visual indications of things you should be able to distinguish just by color (for example, a dotted line), notice, it doesn't need to change every color in the game, just those that are used to distinguish friend from foe, borders, and etc. It's not impossible, and it's definitely not rare, quite a few games have colorblind modes and solutions. League of Legends and Heroes of the Storm are examples of games that solve the color blindness by adding an option that simply changes a few colors that help identify crucial and basic information, like who's a friend and who's not, and change them to colors that don't affect colorblinds. Another one is FTL, when instead of only the colors changing, there are also patterns, like diagonal lines, bars, or dots, that allow me to identify when two things are different not only based on colors. So if I may humbly ask the developers, please solve the color blindness problem and include us.
If anyone is curious about what it means to be color blind and try to play games which are not color blind friendly, just google something like "color blindness games" or anything similar. A lot of things come up and might help understand that even though non color blinds can find this not very important, for at least 10% of the male population, it kinda is. I obviously cannot speak for every color blind, since each one has a different condition that makes distinguishing different colors possible or not, but, even though it is something a little bit personal, there are universal solutions that affect every and all color blind and allow them to also distinguish very basic and simple features.
TL; DR: the game is not colorblind friendly. I cannot distinguish the colors between several features, and thus I cannot see them, for example the borders. This could just easily be solved by adding a color blind mode under graphic options that changes the color scheme of a few things that use color as identities, or just add another patter not dependant on color. For example doted lines for the borders.
