You are goddamn right. I wouldn't play on smaller maps either.
Now answer my question are you running on a HDD or an SSD? SSDs will have alot faster load time, should also prevent the lag you might see during turns. I still have some interface lag in 1.02 but much minor vs 1.0.
I didn't build it but was interested in helping you out if you want it. If I may ask if you are running 8 gig of ram.
I don't think more RAM is going to help you. I think your CPU is simply too far behind the curve to play it the way you want to play it. There are things you can do for cheap to fix that,..
Option A. Wait for code improvements, which will marginally fix your issues maybe.
Option B, If you have DDR3 RAM, then pony up the $50 for another 8 gigs and you can create a ram disk, install the game on it and play from the RAM, that is your best option to give good crutches to your CPU. It is what I do with my FX-8350.
Option C, move the game and or OS or both to a Sata III SSD from an HDD, preferably a 128GB-250GB one, which has good IOPS. Hard drives suck, in terms of speedy loads.
With 8 gigs of RAM I doubt the game is dumping a lot of data to your page file but it is possible. If you get more ram or have your page file on an SSD you shouldn't be having the issues which I conclude you are.
Also it has been suggested on here that the forum users would like more of a sugar coated response to stuff. So while I don't care about your direct approach, be wary of staying too much in your default frustrated yet genuinely understandably demeanor.
Cheers
