I've noticed in youtube let's plays as well as playing the game myself that sometimes produced resources are less valuable than the sum of their parts. For example, when the price of water skyrockets but the price of food is low, it does not make sense to use water to produce food instead of just selling water and buying food. I think there should be some sort of GUI indication of this as it is not entirely obvious from the information presented (since some resources require 2 inputs for 1 output, or more than 1 input, etc and it's hard to do math in your head on the fly just by glancing at the prices). This is a fairly important gameplay mechanic, having efficient resource allocation. I don't know the best way to indicate this price mechanism, but perhaps there could be small animated arrows pointing from the feeder resources to its product, and the arrow could change color to indicate when it is uneconomical to produce that item, in which case you should e.g. turn off food production.
