Logistics and towers: I know Brad asked about logistics and towers and I couldn't pin down a clear alternative. What I do know is that tower costing logistic points is a pain. Towers are really the only effective way of keeping swarms of darklings off your porch. I don't think towers should cost logistics because right now they don't do much beyond defense. I know they help grab territory for shards and allow the player to take things like metal but right now that doesn't seem like their main purpose.
So my suggestion would be to make pioneers cost a bit of population because I had no problem building 100 pioneers a game with no population decrease. In fact, it became rather tedious after awhile because I couldn't put builds in a queue. Secondly, I really like the way Fallen Enchantress: Legendary heroes handled towers. It's built with a pioneer but can only be upgraded by cities. I liked that considerably more than the current feature. Right now, I'm having to manually spam a lot of pioneers and it's not a lot of fun doing that.
I also think towers should cost logistics but they should be made considerably more useful. Right now, towers can't houses troops like Fallen Enchantress (FE). I can't upgrade the zone of control beyond the 4x4 meaning I have to build more towers to protect and also get those resources. I was very fond of the ranger sovereign because my towers had a large zone of control and I built far fewer towers. I think towers should cost logistics but that should only be done if that towers are made more useful. Otherwise, if the towers stay as they are now then they shouldn't cost logistics.
