forgive me i numbered your list to make my reply easier to track
I really love that the item shops have been replaced by a crafting system. I never liked how in FE you could hoard almost whatever items you wanted, as long as you had enough gold.
Some ideas for improving it though:
1- When you get enough materials to craft a new item, make that item stand out somehow.
Every time I had enough materials to craft something new, I had to look through the entire list of items to figure out what had changed.
2- Add more weapons and make it a bit easier to find their required materials.
In my first game I have created several armors, potions, jewelry and scrolls, but only had mats for 2 weapons.
3- Scroll recipes should either be rather unique or the mats be more common.
Those spells that I have been able to create didn't feel meaningful to create, as I could cast similar spells with only mana.
4- Make it possible for the sovereign to learn new receipts from new sources.
It would be great if items recipes could drop as loot and\or be rewards in goodie huts. They could be unique receipts, some of them could give especially good items, and then you would have to get all the required materials as well. Epic receipts require epic materials and so on.
5- Grant a chance for a created item to be of higher quality.
For instance 50% chance for common quality, 25% chance for uncommon quality, 12% for rare, etc.
Or maybe rather add a chance that the created item will received +1 in some stat?
6- When crafting basic items you could have a chance of learning a slightly improved version of the item.
I love the crafting system also, really like that there dose not seem to be a limit on the number if supplies you can carry. Would be a real shame if that changed!
1- I be OK with this but not sure it's necessary. As many items are used commonly, i always scan the whole list to pick what i want/need most and this can drastically change form turn to turn.
2- Completely agree, played several games where material needed for a weapon never showed up. This despite the face i was careful not to use and item where i had 1 of 2 required and the second never came my way. ALSO along the lines of weapons i would like to see a small bias for you your primary hero's type appearing. E.g played 2 games as the mage hero (name eludes me) and never saw a better staff that his default starter. And i purposefully cleared the entire map looking.
3- I think i disagree with this one. Assuming you mean, for example, you and make blizzard scrolls, and your sovereign can learn blizzard. Your sovereign only gets a limited number of casting, and you may be low on mans. So having the ability to plan on having a scroll with a favorate spell is good strategic planning.
4- Like the idea. It should be very rare and maybe tied to a hard quest.
5- The list of items get so big now i would hate to see it if many items had 2 or different quality modifiers. A close alternative would be to change one in to a better existing item. E.g upgrade chain armor into plate armor (same type) requiring fewer raw resources This would also help the problem with lots of outdated items in tour inventory. e.g. a bunch of chain gloves after you have gotten plate cloves. Or give a way to 'destroy" an item and recover some of the original required resources.
6- kinda the same as 5
