So, I finally got some actual loot, and a real nice one at that. But then it never showed up in my inventory:

Never showed up in inventory.
I've gotten a couple of impressive swords as loot...but the minimum hero level to use them was around 18.
and the game is long over before the heros ever get there.
I played on beginner and farmed creatures to get Tandis and Varda up to level 18.
So, I equipped the two level 18 swords. Fun!
Combined with 20-25 level trained units, the SK was a breeze.
I'm guessing the level 18 requirement is spelled out directly in the info via mousing over as it normally would be in these games?

In my last game I had the recipe for the Sovereign's Sword. When found as loot it has the level 18 prereq on it. When crafted, it does not

I'll have to figure out how to do that. I'm a bit of a luddite.
Simple, when you craft an item, you get the option to equip it immediately. Select the hero in that dialog and it is equipped, even if the requirement isn't met.

Ok, fine, I did that too in my first game. It was unintentional, I swear!
