As a Master of Magic fan back in the day (well, and still now), I was waiting for years for a comparable game to come out. When Elemental:War of Magic came out, however, I gave it a pass after seeing the reviews... I knew if the game was mediocre, it would make me feel bad, especially comparing it to MoM. High expectations and long wait + not too good game = frustration, so I didn't risk it.
Some years and updates passed and I finally decided to buy Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes. And I must say it's GREAT! It's a fun, complex, addicting game that stands its own against MoM (which is saying a lot). In some ways it falls short compared to MoM (the different races, having two worlds, naval combat) but in other ways it's much better, I especially love the possibility of unit customization and the fine-tuning, even of superficial features like hair, unit background, etc. I have spent a good amount of time in my game making my armies custom. Also the tech trees are a great feature, and the variety of items and their handling is superb.
However there is a feature that I just can't understand why it's not in the game, especially after several updates... I mean... no Hall of Fame? Really? Why, but WHY?
I know it's a bit silly but the hall of fame/high scores is an absolutely key feature to keep me playing 4X games again and again. Maybe it's childish but I have a competitive mindset (especially against myself) and I always want to beat my own performances. Right now I'm keeping a Hall of Fame on paper, but I would like to suggest that one is implemented - it seems like the simplest of features to implement (especially given that the scoring mechanic is already there) and it would help replayability a lot for people like me. I mean, I would buy a DLC only and exclusively to get a hall of fame. Or is there some mod that does this already?
