AI allies not getting along! :(

In my latest game I have been trying to make alliances, rather than just killing everyone. With a lot of effort I managed to get 2 different team to like me and make peace.

Problem is they are now at each others throats! I was hoping to team up with them and fight a much harder opponent, who I have been holding at bay, who is on another side of a wormhole.

I have been told to try and get the to fight someone else so they won't fight each other and will build respect for each other. Problem is they are neutral to the other party at the moment and won't attack him.

Is there anything I can do to make them like each other?

It would be nice if I could tell each side to send envoys to the other via missions but that doesn't seem to be an option.

Are there any mods that help with multiple alliances? Or am I stuck watching them kill each other?

No mods can help that, it's part of the engine.

From my observations, if you fight with someone, and your ally likes you better that the guy you are fighting, he will side with you eventually.

If your 2 allies are fighting, the best I could do is either order them to attack separate targets, or defend separate targets. Or one to defend somewhere and the other to attack somewhere. But this is only a temporary measure, you may have to pick someone to stomp out so you can concentrate on your real threat.
