Hi All,
So I recently bought LH off steam and have put in just under 200 hours so far and I must say, other than a few bugs here and there, I am loving it.
As I am already consistently beating the AI on Ridiculous/Ridiculous I thought about filling up my faction and sovereign list with some tricked out custom jobs to introduce a bit of challenge. That said, what are your favourite custom combinations that work well?
I have only made and played one so far but it was incredibly fun and powerful;
Tarth Blood
No Armor
Archers
Lucky
Master Scouts
Quick
Sovereign:
Noble
Air Disciple
Earth Apprentice
Water Apprentice
Clumsy
Strategy:
Research Knowledge -> Civics -> Trading -> then straight for the first archery tech. Meanwhile explore around using the initial units and Sovereign looking for suitable city sites. Pump out pioneers (build a study asap) and try to find a good 3 or 4 essence spot for a fortress. As soon as archery is in, design a unit with shortbows, leather armour (optional really), initiative boots and if you got a crystal mine or two up quick enough the iniative belt as well. Create two of these units from a fortress with a training ground and aura of grace at a minimum - if your second hero had fire, then heart of fire as well. Stick these with your sovereign and start going nuts. Using this strategy I make my Sov a commander and go down the accuracy/exp/initiative line in that order.
Using this mere "medium" stack I was comfortably clearing anything up to deadly. Pad out the research with the other basic techs in magic and civilization and when you feel you need too, grab longbows - upgrade your guys and start clearing deadly packs as well. The bonus to this is that you can also stick 2 groups of archers with your second and third hero's as well, for the same price that another faction would have one super stack.
With the ridiculous amount of initiative your sovereign gets coupled with titans breath you can even comfortably take AI cities with these stacks as well - I managed to take a Yithril city with 8 stationed troops (including heavy armour oppressors and jugg's) along with the normal garrison with just my Sovereign and 2 upgraded longbow-men without issue. It certainly helps that they end up level 10+.
So; What other ideas for custom races/sovereigns and strategies are there?
