Last time I played the game at ridiculous settings with hope for struggle and war. But at the beginning I managed to make non-aggression pacts and even to demand tributes from 2 of 3 opponents. Though they left me far behind in researched technologies, I was leading in overall rating and was at peace with every Empire. I have chosen Kingdom to prevent AI from making peace with me, but those losers agreed to non-aggression and payed me tribute. Though I had no army and falled behind in research I had no so much cities - 7 against 6, 4, 3 cities of opponents.
As a result all (ALL!) my games result in alliance victory. I always play as Kingdom and my task is graciousness and mercy towards any race. So my problem is in how to play graciously and have a combat game. I don't want to be a traitorous intruder and victory condition "Alliances" should not be switched off.
How to play graciously and have a combat game?
Next time I think that I will play with a team of 2 Kingdoms on Hard level against a team of 3 Empires on Ridiculous level on a small map. I hope that Empires will attack any Kingdom in my team and for a small map there will be a short settling phase. And I'll have to make a map with the scenario builder to ensure all Empires have a good start.
What do you think, will this help? What else you could suggest for a good righteous war-game?
What is the most aggressive Empire nation? Trogs? All of them are militarists and less ready for peace. Or should I create an opponent Empire from a Kingdom race? As I remember Tarths are quite militant. What do you think? Who in your games mostly was an AI aggressor?
