Is that the result of a spell I cast on a hero? A curse spell from another faction?

You wouldn't happen to have a champion or a unit equipped with a fire or freezing staff? I believe they are supposed to leave a trail of smoke/frost behind as they move.
Yea, I did, but I traded her an axe pretty early in the game. I guess the command to cause that animation is "stuck".
