This is not a problem specific to 0.75. It has been there since the beginning with FE. The biggest problem I have with the road building algorithms is that the roads are built to travel the shortest route, not the best one. In particular, they will run right through a monster's camp instead of around it. For example, in my current game, I have two cities, call them A and B. The game has built a road between them that goes right through a Drake's Army camp, rated as Deadly, which means that for a long time the road is useless since the camp is in a tight spot and I can't get around it. There is a mountain between the two cities, and the road could have been built around the other side of the mountain. It would have been a bit longer, but much safer because there were no monster camps there. In addition, now when I send a unit from A to B, the AI tries to send it right through the Drake's Army camp, with predictable results, so I have to move the unit, one turn at a time around the other side of the mountain.
