Just a couple of thoughts on LH beta after a couple of games played:
- I like the new champion leveling system but the fact that champions level so slow defeats the purpose of the new system. It killed the fun for me. Splitting experience between champions needs to be abolished in order to make leveling faster and the game more fun in this respect. By the way I love the fact that you've made the summoning options for champions more interesting. I was never able to select skills past a certain point in the tree however. I was thinking that this just hasn't been enabled yet. If not, then this is a bug. Also, I would like to be able to have an option where I could see what skills a champion has chosen at any time in the game instead of just when a champion levels.
- Cities are gonna be hard to grow with pioneers costing population. Found it hard to get cities past level 2.
- I don't like the fact that units have been moved closer together in tactical battles. Many times I've had units killed before I could do anything simply bacause higher initiate units swarmed my (poorly placed) units before I could do anything. This is not fun. Not being able to position my units makes this even worse. A few times I have had a tactical battlefield where there was a chasm in the middle and my most powerfull unit was placed on one side while my weaker units were placed on the other and got killed as a result since my powerful unit couldn't get over to help in time. I also always have wisps placed in the front row. That doesn't make any sense. At least in the old FE system where there was some separatoin between armies, I could re-arrange thier position before there was contact with the enemy. The old system where there is some separation between armies needs to be brought back.
- I would really like some spells that slow the movement of enemy forces, especially since stinking mud seems to be gone now. I've always been puzzled why there are not more spells of this nature. The water line seems like a natural for some sort of "freezing" spells that slow movement and the earth line would be perfect for spells that throw up obstacles to block enemy lines of advance.
The game runs very well. I've only had one or two crashes in all the time that I've played. If the issue with the to-slow champion leveling and the tactical battle placement is taken care of the game is looking pretty good.
