I like the direction the game takes.
The fame-leads-to-heroes-thing is very nice, the window that appears telling you about a new hero feels like a real award.
The new "Combat-mechanics" with Weapons and units having individual usable powers make fighting a lot more intersting and
gives the term "Tactical combat" a deeper sense than before.
I like the idea of more individual traits like the wolves thing (swarm-bonus), but perhaps the mixture of very much Initiative and Killer-swarm makes them a little bit to powerful, one time one wolf-pack did 60 damage. I had not the most powerful units (Sparus at Level 5), perhaps I have to watch that...
Very nice new items and monsters!
The Hero-RPG-Level-Mechanic is nice, you now know where leads what, but I hope that thing gets more interesting and perhaps al ittle bit more individual (Special Abilitys? There are some new very cool designed heros!), in the "old System" I could vary a little bit more in the direction of Combat-Mage or something like this. The ways feel a little bit too "clean" in this state.
The balance is also not always clear after my opinion, as a mage I could take very fast +30 Spell Mastery, the sense of +1-Books and +1-Items is not that interesting than anymore.
One Hero had a better weapon than he was allowed at his level, he could use it anyway, only when I took away the weapon I could not give it back to him, because of the level-restriction, I think this is because the "Hero-designs" are fix and only vary in Level?
I like the surprise-factor in the pits of Namtur, but perhaps a warning before a fight/another system to distribute the stuff would be nice, the difference between what you find/could fight is very large. I know it is difficult, because this is the "fun-Factor" of the pit, getting extremly good items or/and fighting hard fights, but dead units
are dead units and not so funny...one time there was a dragon and another time three umberdroths, vs a lot of stuff and minor creatures.
Sometimes the opponents in combat stand to close towards each other for my taste, preparation with spells or sorting troops is not possible than, units like familiars are very fast killed that way.
Has Kraxis a bonus concerning Monsters? He settled between two dragons and a lot of other stuff, they were very peaceful towards each other.
Some bugs/issues:
Seldom it has no effect clicking on troops at the left side of the window, the map does not jump anymore to the selected army.
Sometimes after loading Auto-/or Quick-Save the coloured borders of regions and land controlled by factions disappear, restarting the game is the only thing that helps, I had that bug in all versions of the game till now.
Seldom in combat the quadrats showing you where you can move are not visible, or is some special feature activated than?
In Research moving around the tree could lead to the effect, that the tree moves but not he font. the font stays at its place.
Are there any new rules for the spell "Tireless March"? In my games I could only cast it once at all.
First I thought there is a limit for that spell, but when I dispelled it, I could not use it anymore.
I made some screenshots, but offhanded I have no idea how to put them here. On the other hand Beta-Testing is a voluntary job, so the
"extra-work" I invest is limited.
